Must I be your conscience?

Good comments. They can't trust the rank and file to interpret the Bible on their own. For them, the Bible is actually an incomplete book. I specially liked hamsterbait's words:
To me a classic example is an article where Jesus' words "you must love your enemies and pray for those etc," is twisted with old testament legalism, so at the end we SHOULD hate certain people, and should not pray for those outside the Borg.

if you know what the Bible says, why ask for a second opinion?
"Just to make sure," that's why! Witnesses have a mental dependency on the Watchtower. They need the WT stamp of approval to what they do, proving that the Bible is not the self-sufficient book they claim it to be.

Am I right about the WT being wrong?
by FreedomFrog inhi everyone.... i was "raised" as a dub and got baptised in '86...so in total i had been a jw for over 20 years.
i came to realize that the "way of life" i was living was in fact made up of mostly lies.
i started "questioning" the borg about 6 years ago and finally came out with almostatheist last sept. i know in my heart that they are mostly wrong and very legalist.

Sometimes I still get that nagging voice in the back of my head telling me that I just left the only "right" religion. Especially when I read something that the DO have correct. Have any of you experience this? And does it ease up over time?
Yeah, that's exactly what happens to most of us exdubs. After we listen year after year to their "we are the Truth" talk it's not easy to come to grips with the fact that they have nothing to do with truth. Our minds try to find something positive in the JW religion to help deal with the dissonance (and of course they have some positive stuff, otherwise they'd never exist as a religion). I think it's completely normal.
Maybe this feeling is stronger when we are raised into the cult. It does ease up over time, and some people have said that it may take about 5 years to completely rebuild one's life after leaving a mind controlling group. What may accelerate the process is studying in detail the cult's doctrines and falsehoods to really erradicate those little doubts that keep nagging the mind. Psychotherapy and posting on JWD help a lot too!

The Watchtower's Yearly Rejection of Jesus Christ
by metatron init's that time again - that special time of the year when 6 million jehovah's witnesses meet together to reject the.
symbols of christian salvation.. never mind that jesus clearly said "he that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and i shall resurrect.
him on the last day" (john 6:54) - in a plain reference to those who hoped in the general resurrection.. never mind that jesus is called the "one mediator between god and man" ( 1 tim.2:5).

I didn't... but you are welcome
I originally made it bttt, and then when the topic was getting buried again, you did it also.
Look at the date - that was last year LOL !!!
Not only you say that 1975 + 40 = 2005, now you're saying that this topic is from last year. It's from 2003, slim! And the message is as valid as it has always been. I brought it up to the top of the Active Topics page because tomorrow is the Memorial and people will have a good read in this supposedly special season for dubs.
