The scripture from the Greek doesn't say "accurate knowledge", at least not in the Kingdon Interlinear. It says "know"--- the emphasis on knowledge is as you say, accurate in as much as the GB approves and provides. This is why they are so heinous. They have assigned themselves the role of gatekeeper to the Father and the Son.

Faith vs Accurate Knowledge
by writetoknow inalthough that organization may presently be under going a name change do to recent sex scandals plaguing the group.. .
basing their doctrinal teaching of accurate knowledge from john17: 3 of the new world translation.
however, other translation put the verse this way: and this is eternal life; to know thee, the only true god and jesus christ whom thou hast sent.

Becoming an elder pretty much nailed it for me. My actual epiphany came at the Pioneer Service School when the CO commented regarding Nathan Knorr: "Nathan Knorr was only 37 years old when God appointed him over the whole planet! Only 37! Can you imangine that?"
No. I couldn't.

Will the Book Study ever be dropped from the weekly meetings?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe book study is one of the most useless meetings.
the same books have been studied 3 or 4 times.the meeting takes only an hour but takes up most of your evening.
and, it is one of the least attended meetings.. why haven't they combined the watchtower study with just question and answer and then follow with the book study with just question and answer?

This is the meeting they should do away with. One less night a week would mean so much to the average hurried dub. But the GB won't do it. They're like Rehoboam.

What happens when we die?
by Tatiana inis death an end, a beginning, or just another stage on the path?
i watched a movie last night called the eye 2. it was about the buddhist belief in reincarnation.
in the movie, souls wait for women to give birth in order to reincarnate into the baby.

My deepest sympathy to you.
As to the point of your post, who knows? No one knows. We all "beleive" in different things, but no one knows. My hope is that a loving God--- not the God described by the
Watchtower--- but that gentlest and kindest of all spirits has something better for us, something more. And to me, one needn't beleive in the immortality of the soul to beleive that
something of us lives on after our physical death. I do not beleive this is all there is. Having said that, I also beleive in enjoying this life today. Having joy, making friends, seeing different
landscapes. Perhaps the gift from the Creator was to be human for a little while and to be able to enjoy the physical today and the spiritual tomorrow. As for being in God's "memory",
isn't that perhaps like asking an old friend "don't forget me" when one moves away to another far away place? We still live, we just don't want to be forgotten simply because we are out of
sight. It doesn't make us a collection of thoughts in someone's brain.
Whatever the case, I hope you find comfort, friend.
And.... questions are good.... it is people that can be evil.

Bored...So I just called Ted Jaracz...
by deaconbluez inyep, couldn't believe i actually got him on the phone.
he asked who it was and i just gave a fake name and sounded official.
i finally asked his thoughts on the 1914 date and how that teaching seems to be expiring.

Gee, I thought even Almighty God was never too busy to listen to even to the least of men. You'd think His only Channel of communication on Earth would have the same attitude.
"Rabbi, tell us when these things will be and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the systems of things?"
"Fellas, I was about to answer with an inscrutable riddle, but I have decided to refer you to my Office of Public Information. That way I can't be blamed for your misinterpretation of
my prophecies."

To be fair about the Life Insurance thing, the WTS does recommend people carry life insurance. Their reasoning? "Time and unforeseen occurrence befall us all." While some witnesses may consider having life insurance as a sign of weak faith, I never did see it in print from the WTS. And I am no fan of the WTS.
The families suffer the most, of course. This accident has been much discussed in my still JW circles.

You do not owe any man or group of men ANYTHING. You owe them no explanation, no justification, NOT A THING. What you do with this situation is obviously your
business. My suggestion is to talk to no one about anything. Live your life. Be happy. They have no power over you.

What exactly can I get disfellowshipped for?
by Younglove1999 inmy husband and i have been inactive for almost 8 months.
we haven't gone to a meeting and slowly our jw friends have stopped associating with us because we're "weak".
at some point, we'll be celebrating holidays.

You can be disfellowshipped for ANYTHING if the elders want to get rid of you. They'll just make something up. hey have even strectched "loose conduct" to mean disrespect of godly authority. So if they want to disfellowship you, they will. These people are not from God at all. Never were and never will be.
