Anyone remember The Rogues with David Niven, Charles Boyer, and Gig Young? They played a group of con men. It was only on for one season in 1964/65 - I loved that show, but it got cancelled after one season. Another favorite was Laredo, about a group of Texas Rangers that was a comedy/western, and that only lasted a couple of seasons.

Okay, who remembers Truth or Consequences?
I remember Truth or Consequences. In fact, I was in the audience for a taping when I was in the Marine Corps - they invited a bunch of us Marines as part of one of their gags. It taped just before I got out in 1972, so I was able to watch that particular show as a civilian. Remember how at the beginning of each show they'd pan the audience and everybody was laughing hysterically? Well, what they did when I was there was tell us to laugh as hard as we could (even though there was nothing to laugh at) and they'd select whoever did the best job of it and give them a gift - that was sort of disappointing. They claimed they usually had someone telling jokes to make people laugh before the show started, but he was unavailable that day. I suspected they told every audience that.

is death a transition?
by soft+gentle inall spritiual views welcome.
i'd also like to know if the bible presents death as a transition and if it does so more than presenting it as a complete end..

What I did in life defines who I was.
Interesting. I'd say that what one does in life is just a series of actions; it doesn't define who you are but what you did. What you are cannot just be an accumulation of events, which is only a chronical of activites performed and experienced. Prior to any action one still exists, which then begs the question: Who/what am I really?
Our vibrancy is there and it is ours but we echo all who have gone before us down the marble halls of humanity.
It isn't so much that we vanish. Rather, we grow less and less and less into the infinitesimal interstices.
If we are still "there" it is beyond seeing or hearing.....but...not remembering the tertiary aftershock of our being.
Beautiful.

Is the Bible obsessed with numbers, if so why ?
by mP inin another thread, i made the statement that the bible seems obsessed with numbers, particularly 7,12, and 40.. the perfect example is while it sometimes lists different tribes of israel names the count is always twelve.. http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/tribes.html.
what were the twelve (or thirteen) tribes of israel?
genesis 49 numbers 1 numbers 13 deuteronomy 33 ezekiel 48 revelation 7 1 reuben reuben reuben reuben reuben reuben 2 simeon simeon simeon - simeon simeon 3 levi - - levi levi levi 4 judah judah judah judah judah judah 5 zebulun zebulun zebulun zebulun zebulun zebulon 6 issachar issachar issachar issachar issachar issachar 7 dan dan dan dan dan - 8 gad gad gad gad gad gad 9 asher asher asher asher asher aser 10 nephtali nephtali nephtali nephtali - nephthalim 11 joseph (children of) joseph joseph joseph joseph joseph 12 benjamin benjamin benjamin benjamin benjamin benjamin 13 - manasseh manasseh manasseh manasseh manasses .

Numbers are an esay way to explain patterns. They are easy to remember too. I wonder if anyone has considered using prime numbers to explain biblical stuff.
Or how about using a binary number system. I bet all kinds of stuff would come out of that for the numberically obsessed (OBVES).

I was gifted with a Kindle Keyboard 3G a year ago. I love the convenience of instant and free downloads and having at hand a whole library, but what I miss is not being able to jump around and flip through a book. I also miss not having pages.

I'll bet if you prayed to a mug of beer you'd get the same results.
