One could just as easily say that you are so focused on the future that you can't see the blessings in front of your eyes - no difference. What blessings? That you exist, that you "are". Life in its fullness is always now, never in the past or in the future. Whatever happened is over and done with and the future is always the future. Life exists now, which means that whatever you are in the truest sense exists now as well. Can you sense your own existence without interpreting it in any way? I suggest that that is a blessing, to know that you are, without defining or limiting that in any way. Cast aside any interpretations or teachings of what you are and simply sense the fact of your own existence.

"You are so Focussed on The Past that you can't see the Blessings in front of your Eyes!"
by BluesBrother inthat statement has been made to me recently - i think it is a sound-bite from the new dvd about jerusalem's fall.. hmm.. i need to reflect on a reply .
several thoughts come to mind but it has to be constructive and form a reasoned argument rather than a smart answer.. what blessings?
are we unreasonably obsessed with the past?

This reminds me of my brother's wedding when he put on his bow tie and discovered it was way way too small. And then later he looked at his 8 year old nephew only to see his bow tie was huge! They still laugh about that 36 years later.

Ultimately it is the child who should stop the abuse according to the GB!
by life is to short inon page 171 of the "learn from the great teacher" book published in 2003 it shows a picture of a very cute little girl holding a ragged ann doll.
she is sitting on a chair in her bedroom with her hand out toward a man that is coming toward her.. the paragraphs say "so just as jesus needed protection, you also need to be protected from grown-ups-and even from other children-who may try to have sex with you.
usually, these people will pretend to be your friends.

Outlaw, seriously...are you 13 years old? it would be ok if you were funny. Which your not.
His sense of humor zeroes directly to the heart of matters with a jagged and rusty blade that sticks it where it hurts the most. It's not his fault that you only see what you want to see.

How do I hear/feel God?
by doinmypart inthis is a serious question.. i know people that hear/feel god (and see postings about people's experiences), but i have not experienced this.
i have never heard anything audibly (or otherwise) nor "felt" anything inwardly.. i've prayed, read, quieted my thoughts, etc...but still nothing..

Perhaps appreciating the beauty in my kids' smiles or holding my wife's hand is good enough.
Yes, it's good enough. It's in the simple things and quiet appreciation of what's around you that teaches you the language of silence.
I just haven't figured out how to do the whole transcendental thing. Maybe I'm overanalyzing it...
I hear you, and yes, overanalyzing it runs counter to what I'm pointing to. That's a common thing, actually, because people are so used to relying on their mind for answers, but what you call the "transcendental" has nothing to do with thoughts. Quite the conundrum, isn't it? I'd like to make a suggestion - there is a very profound book called Already on Holy Ground that may be helpful beyond what you've encountered with The Power of Now.

Not better than others
by sinedie inas jw's we are taught that we are better than others; that we are almost superior to them.
after finding out ttatt, and realizing that others are actually smarter than me, i feel quite small and insecure about myself.
how do i start friendships with people i knew (sort of) for years, who i was trying to convince that the end is coming soon?

Tell them the walls of your old world are being dismantled and you want to learn about and participate in the wider world beyond the confines of the witness world. And you would like them to help show you around as your guide and friend (or words to that effect).

The problem with the basic questions lies with what you think "God" is. People have all kinds of ideas about that, but those are just ideas, just thoughts. Can anyone say what "God" is with any certainty? I doubt it, but people are convinced they "know" God and they can be quick to tell others that they should have the same thoughts and beliefs as they do.
Perhaps whatever God truly is he/she/it "speaks" the language of silence, but because people are looking for some special and noteworthy communication based on false beliefs they can't hear the silence through the turmoil of their hearts and minds. Perhaps people need to learn the language of silence in order to "hear" what God is saying.
