"5.To be All-Knowing there has to be ___something___to know; and with nothing existing---there is NOTHING to know (literally!)."
That seems to follow logically, doesn't it. But is it truly the case? Beyond logic and leaving content within awareness aside, can there be "knowingness" without an object to be known? Can "knowingness" stand on its own? Investigate for yourself. If it is the case with "you", then why not with "god"?
Perhaps the phrase "All-Knowing" is being misconstrued by the human mind. Perhaps it means something along these lines: With everything that arises there is the "knowing" of it, and in the absence of phenomena there is the "knowingness" of itself. Therefore, "knowingness" cannot be separate from anything, including itself!

No matter what one's religious affiliation is, when there is a feeling of being "religious" there is just another layer of delusion being created which further separates you from reality.

A brief History of Me...
by Truth.Seeker ini was studying with jehovah's witnesses during my college years.
i found that they somehow was able to make me understand many of the meanings from the bible that i had never understood before.
i had a clearer sight of what it was to walk as a christian.

Truth.Seeker,
Welcome to JWD. You will find much to chew on here, and many people who will listen nonjudgmentally. Your name conveys one who is on a journey for something that is thought one does not yet have. Perhaps the truth you seek is already here, not as defined by some church or philosophy, but in and as your very Being. Consider this possibility: That You are the truth that is sought; not the you that you take yourself to be, but the You that is left when all ideas are released and there is the simple resting in/as your natural state of awareness. Consider the possibility that YOU are already whole and complete right now, and that there is no need to seek any further. -

Are there any writers on here?
by PaulJ inok, i work in a dull 9-5 job that is busy but quite boring.
i guess by being a jw in the past i've been encouraged all along to be settled, work to get by.
my focus was supposed to be serving jehovah and nothing else.

I'm not buying it! That people left the Witnesses and became Christians.
by free2beme ini tried it, could not swallow all the lies and misinformation they had.
i am sorry, but even if you deny the whole witness faith, there is still parts to christianity that they pointed out that you can not just ignore and act like it is okay to join another faith that is christian.
are you going to become catholic when your know their history?

It seems to me that jws have been required to substitute their own idea of self in favor of the institutional idea of self presented by WTBTS. It's tough enough questioning one's own idea of self, but to challenge an institutionized idea of self puts the weight of the whole organization against you. Freedom from "self" as held by the individual is freedom from suffering. Freedom from "self" as defined by WTBTS, or any institutionalized ideas, gives you liberty to seek true freedom.

Trevor said, "Better still getting getting out and watching nature at work for real.
Reading this you may conclude that I am simple minded.
Truth is simple!"
I agree wholeheartedly. It is the mind that wants to take that which is (the simplicity of wholeness) and mucking it up. -

I am not sure who originally said it, though I know that Father Thomas Keating has used it, but my favorite quote about god is: Silence is the language of god. Everything else is a poor translation. That being said, scripture could be said to be a poor translation - look at the mess it has created.

It seems that most people need to replace one set of beliefs with another when they can no longer continue with what they had. How sad this is when you think about it, but it is understandable. The root of this dynamic rests in the unquestioned acceptance in the belief in the "me" who would hold or reject any belief. People identify with the "me" entity, and a large part of that identity rests on the religious affiliation that has been accepted. Because so much of personal identity revolves around religious ideas, it becomes a wrenching experience to question, switch, or drop such ideas. Afterall, they reason, "who will I be without my beliefs? Better have a belief of some sort so I know who I am."
And that is the challenge, to find out what you really are when there are no beliefs held about anything, especially those concerning god. Since it seems to be "my" life, it would be logical to find out who this "me" is, who this "me" is that seems to relate to "others" and to "god". But, how many people even consider this question - it seems too ludicrous to even think about. And why is this so? Because there is a heavy investment in believing in the "me" entity; because the one who would question that belief puts its very existence on the chopping block.
The greatest fear is to discover that "I" don't really exist as a separate and distinct entity, and so, to maintain the illusion of existence, the "me entity" continually adds to or alters a "belief matrix" that it has created for itself. All beliefs do is alter the experience of "what is" - they obscure reality. But humans, for the most part, are not interested in reality, they are actually more interested in mind created beliefs about reality because those beliefs keep the illusory "me" alive.
