Jehovah's Witnesses And The Paranormal
by Cold Steel ini understand that the jehovah's witnesses are paranoid when it comes to the paranormal.. how far do the roots of this paranoia go?
has anyone ever had any personal paranormal experiences or know of anyone who has (first hand)?.
and what are some of the more popular stories that get retold in jw circles?.

A question for Roman Catholics ...
by talesin ini attended a funeral on the weekend, and my friend asked me to go up with her for the wafer (no disrespect intended, i'm not sure of the correct term to use).
she is rc herself, but was shy to walk up alone - it was a large funeral.. .
i did not, because i have been told in the past that it would be very disrespectful.

poppers - are you a Catholic, and if so, are you saying this is correct?
talesin, I was raised Catholic, but no longer attend any church. Yes, all who receive communion in RC churches around here have the option of having wine as well as communion host. Those who take wine just take a small sip rather than big gulps. I've never heard of a RC church that didn't offer wine as part of the communion service, but I suppose there are some out there. Why that would be I don't know.

Apparently Jesus' instructions are not good enough for the Catholic Church to actually follow, and since wine is expensive and may lead to abuse by alcoholics, only the priest follows that part of the ceremony in some Churches.
Well, that's not the case around here. All receive wine if they want it.

I made it!! I'm just so freaking happy!!!
by Rocky_Girl inas some of you know, i started college 5 years ago for the first time at age 27. i had been out of the "truth" for 9 years at that time, but had just broken free of the mentality.
well, on saturday i walked across the stage with the 130th graduating class at rocky mountain college!.
after 5 years of working several jobs, taking care of two little boys as a single mom, and trying to get the most out of my college experience, i earned my master of accountancy, bachelor of science in business management, and minors in writing and organizational leadership.

Why some cults may be healthy
by Mr Facts infor your information, not all cults are destructive as may be generally assumed.
as a therapist, i will list the folowing points as reasons why some cults may be healthy, especially the jw organisation.. 1) their stand on material prosperity shields their members from unnecessary worries of life.
their constant emphasis on simple life prevents you from entering into debt-imposed problems safeguarding you from the possibilities of sleepless night, financial stress and the rest .. 2) their behavioural control mechanism helps to constantly keep your lives in checks and balance by injecting sanity into your conscious being.. 3) reporting you deviant thoughts, feelings, and actions to leaders helps to coordinate your life and brings it in conformity to impeccable manners(the desire of every sane human mammal).. 4) their extensive use of cult generated information and propaganda constantly triggers your consciousness for the need to do things right (a positive reinforcement).. 5) their ethical use of confession makes you see that the universe cares for you and you are not alone in the grand scheme of things.. 6) their loaded languages offers you feelings of belonging, which we all aspire in a secluded and socially quarantined world.. .

"some were led to believe that the end would come in 1975"
How could they arrive at that belief on their own when they are taughtconditioned brainwashed not to think for themselves?

In Florida, a Hall building was delayed, because the basement hadn't been back filled and the brothers had no means to do so. While the
inspectors were at the site, a bulldozer showed up, did the job, and drove off. He told his boss he'd finished the job at the Hall. The boss replied,
"'Hall'!? I told you to go to the 'mall!'" The job was done at No expense to the brothers. How many bulldozer drivers (non-dub, that is) would know that "hall" refers to a KH? Even if a non-dub were told to go to a Kingdom Hall I seriously doubt they'd know what it is.
