I was talking to my "devout" JW's mom when she called and invited me to the Memorial. I love my mom dearly but I have told her a hundred times that I will not go back to the WT. She kept on and on about how it is the truth and that Jehovah is revealing new things to the JW's because he wants his organization to be as close to perfect as possible. I then brought up the 1935 heaven closed doctrine to her and told her to look in the May Watchtower about how they have changed that teaching now. She said she already saw the change and a brother gave a talk about it in her hall telling them that no matter how much worshippers of Jehovah and Jesus past and present have tried to totally understand the bible they have always believed in some false things but that did not eliminate them from being used by Jehovah and Jesus. She pointed out that Paul thought the kingdom was going to be set up in his lifetime as many of the early apostles. Jehovah and Jesus still used them even though they might have taught some false teachings. Even after the disciples died off many of the earlier christians were still teaching that in order to be saved one had to be circumcised, some of them taught it was of the devil for women to wear wigs, some christians thought that being "left-handed" was a sign of Satan and burned many left-handed people. My Mom said these people really thought what they were preaching were correct but were wrong. And it did not eliminate them from being believers in Jesus. So her point is that Jehovah's Witnesses are always going to have to make some adjustments on some of their minor teachings but they have never changed their view on the Trinity, immortality of the soul, hellfire, Rapture, etc;

How many of you were Df'd under the "old" way and the "new" way?
by booker-t inhow many of you out there were disfellowshipped under the "old" way of disfellowshipping "conduct unbecoming of a christian" and under the "new" way of disfellowshipping "no longer one of jw's"?
or the very original way of df "disfellowshipped for adultery"(in the 50's-60's the jw's elders would announce what the jw's actually did to be expelled).

Do you get "tired" of "Apostates/ex-jws" bashing the WT to you?
by booker-t ini know it is good to let out pent up anger for healing purposes, but do you ever get tired of some "apostates or ex-jws" constantly bashing the wt?
for instance when you or having lunch and all they do is say "the evil wt this the evil wt that" during the whole time you are at lunch?
sometimes i just don't feel like hearing it especially when i am at an event for fun.

When he calls I tell him I am on the other line just so I don't have to hear it. I know his pain because I was there also but can't he just give it a rest? He has been out for 15 years and all he does is picket the Assemblies, picket the memorials, and read the Watchtower and Awake mags to find error. His wife recently left him because she just got tired of the WT bashing. Do you get sick of WT bashing from you ex-jws friends and family?

As "Believers" in the bible do you feel "foolish" at the things you swallow
by booker-t ini was listening to a radio program the other day and i must admit after the dj finished i felt so foolish to be a believer in the bible.
he was asking listeners if someone were to come up to them now and say that their donkey talked to them or their snake said a sentence to them or that their neighbor turned into a pile of salt would they want that person committed as "crazy" or want to know what "drugs" they were on.
but as believers in the bible we swallow anything it says without proof and rely solely on faith.

But as believers in the bible we swallow anything it says without proof and rely solely on faith. We close our eyes to fact and evidence to disprove it and somehow think Jehovah changed things for that moment in the bible to get something accomplished. Now I can talk to my dog all day long and I will never get him to talk to me. But why do I believe that the snake talked to Eve. Moses turning the sea into blood why can't we do that now. Why does Jehovah expect us to believe things that happened thousands of years ago but won't allow it to happen today? I sometimes think that DJ was right and believers are just "foolish" to swallow the bible.

"Born-Again Christian" co-worker's Anti-Semetic comment distirbs me.
by booker-t ini was having a very interesting conversation with a co-worker that is a "born-again christian" and is a very nice guy.
he is very hard-working and everybody loves him to death.
one reason i like him so much is because he lives the role of a christian and not just "announce" every 5 minutes that he is born-again like alot of christians i know.

Pubsinger you just proved my Jewish co-worker's point and gave me the longest dance. If a person were to ask me if I believed this about Jewish people and the Lake of Fire I would say "No! No! No! without hesitation or "explaining" as you did. This just leads me to think you really believe Jews are going to burn. I bet you are the first person in church clapping to the minister's sermon on Jews going to hell.

One reason I like him so much is because he lives the role of a christian and not just "announce" every 5 minutes that he is born-again like alot of christians I know. Well the other day he made a comment that just threw me for a loop. We were talking about the book of Revelations and he said "It is ashame that all of the Jews are going to burn and be tortured in the Lake of Fire". I thought at first he was joking because I have known him for many years and I never heard him "denounce" another religion. Then I was talking to a good friend of mine at the job who is Jewish to get her imput on my born-again friend and she said most born-agains believe this but many of them won't say it out loud and will be "politically correct" instead of saying what they really feel. She said just ask born-agains point blank if they believe this and you will never get a "yes or no" answer but only a dance with them. So I am going to put my friend to the test "Born-Again Christians" of all denominations yes or no do you feel the same way my "born-again" co-worker feel about Jews and that they are headed for the lake of fire if they don't convert?

A ex-jws friend told me that she thinks JW's will accept the "mark". How?
by booker-t ina good friend of mine that is an ex-jws and now is a born again christian told me that she thinks that the wt society will demand jw's to accept the "mark" of the beast.
i was wondering how would this happen?
will jw's that get baptized at assemblies have to say some sort of "heil the wt society" or will they somehow denounce jehovah and jesus and praise the gb?

Old time JW's/exJW's is there a big difference in the Babylon/Fnshed/Rev bk
by booker-t ini was only a year old when the babylon the great book came out in 1963 so i don't know much about what the book teaches.
i have a copy of it as well as the "then is finished the mystery of god" book that came out in 1968. i was wondering if the babylon the great book and the "then is finished the mystery of god" book has many differences in beliefs by the jw's then the revelation climax book.
if so what are the major changes that you can think of?

When JW's and Christians teach that Adam and Eve's sin caused death. Wrong!
by booker-t inuntil my science studies at college taught me that animals have been dying way before adam and eve were created i just wonder how can jw's and christians continue to teach their members that adam and eve's sin caused death to enter into the world.
this is utterly "wrong".
and i was shocked to see in a recent "awake" magazine that the wt society actually acknowleges that animals were dying way before adam and eve came on the scene.

I have several questions to ask. First off all why do religions teach "Sin and Death" go hand and hand. Do Animals sin? Also why would Jehovah create animals just to cause them to die off? What would be the purpose. And again does Science prove the Bible to be full of Contradictions? How do we reconcile the Flood story with the Dinosaurs?

In your "opinion" are "DF" treated worse than "DA" ex-jws? Are equally?
by booker-t inwhen i was growing up in the 70's you rarely heard about "so and so" has "disassociated" themselves and are no longer one of jw's.
that was how i remember a jw's sister being announced as "da" in 1975. her family and my family were best friends and it sent chills down my family's back.
i was very young and i kept asking my mom, "can we speak to sister x-witness" "is sister x-witness still a jw's" "will she be destroyed at armaggeddon?

I was very young and I kept asking my mom, "Can we speak to Sister X-witness" "Is Sister X-witness still a JW's" "Will she be destroyed at Armaggeddon?" I just was so confused as to the Difference between DF and DA people. But I remember another pioneer sister making a remark about Sister X-witness(who had high blood pressure really bad) "Well if the High blood pressure don't kill her Jehovah will at Armaggeddon. I thought this was such a "nasty" remark to make against a person with High blood pressure no matter how bad they are. So I have always thought DA people are treated 10 times worse than DF people. What do you think posters?
