  we in the psychology/sociology field have a saying "when people protest too loud usually they are overcompensating".

  i did not understand that when i first started studying psychology but now i understand it completely and it is so true.

  when i hear someone constantly bashing something or someone such as gay bashing or ethnic bashing or religion bashing sometimes i wonder what are they hiding.

I did not understand that when I first started studying Psychology but now I understand it completely and it is so true. When I hear someone constantly bashing something or someone such as gay bashing or ethnic bashing or religion bashing sometimes I wonder what are they hiding. I think many people on this site probably believes the bible is just a book not having any validity. I have heard ex-jws in public screaming "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" but in private they are saying that is total nonsense. So posters how many of you believe the bible is bologne? I will be the first to out myself and say I have never swallowed the bible 100% even as a JW. I have always questioned the Adam and Eve story(seems like a big fairytale) Satan and his Demons( seems like science fiction at best like Star Wars) and Noah and the Arc( used to make me laugh). I still believe in God but the bible I am slowly pusing aside.

  Why do "Apostates/exjws" always go into "Watchtower-bashing" when you show them inconsistencies in the Bible?

  i have noticed with "apostates/exjws" they always resort to "watchtower-bashing" whenever you show them inconsistencies of the bible.

  we could be talking about contradictions, such as where did cain get his wife if adam,eve, abel, and cain were the only ones on earth?

  the usual answer when they cannot answer will be "well the wt gave false prophecies in 1975".

  90% of you that responded prove my point whenever there is a topic that goes against what you want to hear you all WT-bash. The only sincere person that posted I believe was Missfit. There was no rant and "attacking the messenger attitude" that the majority of the posters had. Poopsiecake showed the "most" "attacking the messenger". All I did was ask a question. Just because this is a ex-jws site I feel it is disrepectful for ex-jws to cry victim at the WT society but do the same thing when a poster does not agree with them. That is reverse oppression. Since Missfit was respectful I will answer her question. Some examples I had were with some ex-jws at a ex-jw potluck. After the lunch I was conversing with two ex-jws men about Cain and his wife, I talked about the scripture where Jesus told his disciples he was not going to the festival I believe it was up in the mountain but when the disciples arrived Jesus was right there so I asked the ex-jws was this a deception on Jesus' part or what did they believe it was? Right away the two ex-jws men started bashing the WT calling them false prophets and 1975 came up, and I asked them why were they bashing the WT when I asked them a question about the inconsisties of the Bible. I am not here to say who are false prophets and who are not I only try to center on the Bible which some posters have mentioned has some questionable verses. Even when I was a JW I never totally swallowed the bible 100% because of the inconsisties. I would challenge anybody JW, Born Again, Mormon, Muslim, to prove to me the bible is 100% without contradictions. I still believe in God but I think the Bible has been tainted to some degree by religion.

I have even heard some apostates say "I don't care if the Bible contradicts itself the WT are false prophets". I don't get it why do Apostates/exjws always blame everything from the price of tea in China on the WT? Born Again Christians do the same exact thing when they cannot answer questions about the inconsistencies of the Bible but they will add the Mormons and JWs are false prophets in their answers. I agree with a poster who said "you can take the person out of the Watchtower, but you can't take the Watchtower out of the person". This is so true because apostates/exjws are so angry with the WT that everything they do or say is WT-centered.

  Do all Christians/JWs/Mormons really believe the characters in the Bible were good as gold?

  one thing i have always felt even as a devout jws was that some of the bible characters were probably scandelous like anybody else.

  how do we know there was not a good amount of adultery, homosexuality, fornacation, drunkardness, wife swapping,etc; religous people always try to make it seem that some of these people slipped up a few times and was "perfect" forevermore until they died.

  how do we know peter was not in an adulterous affair, or that paul was not engaged in homosexuality.

  One thing I have always felt even as a devout JWs was that some of the Bible characters were probably scandelous like anybody else. How do we know Peter was not in an adulterous affair, or that Paul was not engaged in homosexuality. I am not trying to make fun of the bible but how do we know? I get tired of believers always throwing the perfect bible characters in our faces as if we have to come up to their high standards of holiness. For all we know they could have been more flawed then us.

  I am confused on the JW's 1000 year reign doctrine. Please explain it to me.

  i admit i still think they got some of their teachings correct but one doctrine i think is full of bologne is the 1000 year reign doctrine.

  if jesus came into power in 1914 and now it is 2014 does that mean jws believe it will only be a 900 year reign?

If Jesus came into power in 1914 and now it is 2014 does that mean JWs believe it will only be a 900 year reign? I have always wondered about how do they explain this contradiction. The bible says 1000 not 900 year reign. And the great trib/armaggeddon comes before the 1000 year reign I have always thought they taught this but now I am wondering. So let us suppose for the sake of argument armaggeddon/great trib comes next week Oct 2014 then do JWs believe after 900 years Satan will be let loose I am so confused by this doctrine.

  I just don't see how BAC's/JWs can get around the false prophecy at 2 Kings:1-4

  this post is mainly directed at bacs(born again christians) more so then jws because jws have set dates before whereas bacs have always claimed they are not "false prophets" like jws and mormons.

  at 2 kings 20:1-4 the "prophet" isaiah come to hezekiah's deathbed and tells him to get his affairs in order because "the lord says you will not recover and you will die".

  now if this is not a "thus saith the lord" prophecy then my name is not booker-t. then hezekiah wept and begged god to remember all the good things and his devotion to god.

  So Junction-Guy and Quarterback are you two saying that Jehovah makes promises he cannot keep? So if Jehovah can change his mind for any given reason why should we put our faith and trust in a God that can change at any moment. When JWs change a doctrine people scream and condemn them, but when Jehovah changes it is ok. That is crap. So Jehovah according to you two can say "I think I will not cause Armaggeddon to happen and the whole book of Revelations will go right out of the window and St John will be proven a "false prophet". It is amazing the lengths christians/exjw will go to give christians a free pass.

  Posters do you know of any cases where a devout JW was DF'd for Lesbianism?

  i think this is a hush hush topic among jws but i remember years ago at an assembly i saw two sisters(i am only assuming they were jws they could have been studies or relatives of jws) walking arm and arm like a married couple.

  some of the jws looked at them like they had horns.

  some of the jws moms were covering their small children's eyes and those two women were stared at like they had the plague.

I remember one elderly sister just kept shaking her head in disgust looking at the women when we were all seated. I think the women felt all the eyes glaring down on them and finally after a few hours they got up and left. Do you know of any JW women DF'd for Lesbianism? We always hear of brothers getting DF'd for Homosexuality but I never hear the flip side.

  This post is mainly directed at BACs(Born Again Christians) more so then JWs because JWs have set dates before whereas BACs have always claimed they are not "false Prophets" like JWs and Mormons. Now if this is not a "thus saith the Lord" prophecy then my name is not booker-t. Then Hezekiah wept and begged God to remember all the good things and his devotion to God. And the bible goes on to say 15 years was added to his life and Hezekiah recovered. Now my question to Born Again Christians is if JWs or Mormons had said the same thing wouldn't BACs be screaming "False prophets" but when BACs or Bible prophets do the exact same thing it is not a false prophecy. My question is Why do BACs always get a free pass when they give false dates and JWs and Mormons are condemned. I still have a hard time getting an answer from BACs about the Jonah story and 40 days Niveah will be destroyed. Some BACs have argued with me and said it was not a false prophecy because Jonah did not say "thus saith the Lord" in his prediction. Apparently in Deut "thus saith the Lord" has to be included in order for it to be a prophecy. Posters do you see a double standard here on the part of BACs?

  i am responding to a post by someone the other day about a black girl beaten by a mob of other black teens for "acting too white.

  " the poster was trying to drive home the idea black people commit more crimes against themselves then white people do to them.

  while it is true some black people do insult other black people who they believe are trying to fit in with caucasian people, white people, hispanics, asians, and other races do the same exact thing to people in their ethnic group as well.

  I am responding to a post by someone the other day about a black girl beaten by a mob of other black teens for "acting too white." The poster was trying to drive home the idea black people commit more crimes against themselves then white people do to them. While it is true some black people do insult other black people who they believe are trying to fit in with Caucasian people, white people, Hispanics, Asians, and other races do the same exact thing to people in their ethnic group as well. Some white people have told me they were ridiculed by other white people if they listened to "rap" music or hip hop. What is wrong with a person enjoying music by an artist of another race? People need to stop always bringing up race that include all races. Some Asians co-workers have told me other Asians ridiculed them if they dyed their hair blond telling them "stop trying to be a white girl." Can people just let people be who they want to be and mind their own business? And as one poster pointed out 80% of crimes done to white people are by other white people. It is not like the media tries to implant in our minds that black by are viciously attacking white people around the world. Most victims of crime are by people of the same race. The poster brought up "Ebonics" in his post and black people using slang. I do not know if people really believe in the myth that white people do not talk in slang just listen to the millions of white high school student today. I use to work at USC with teenagers and trust me their talk is just like any other teenager whether black, Asian, or Hispanic they talk in slang.
