Episode Twenty Three - Sherrie is shunned by Jehovah's Witnesses
Today we have a really cool live recording from my living room. A listener to the show from Australia named Sherrie came to the United States with her Auntie Bev and they took time out of their trip to come visit my wife and I. Sherrie is pretty freshly openly out of the Witnesses, and Beverley was never one of Jehovah’s Witnesses despite her close ties to her family and hopes that one day she could see them leave the cult behind. So I had two mics and we passed them around and you’ll hear Sherrie and Beverley and myself and my wife Jenny jumps in too.
You will learn about Sherrie’s exemplary JW life and what woke her up, how much it impacts other family members when people suddenly become Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the beauty that unfolds when people wake up and families are able to live in freedom again.
You can download and listen on your podcast app of choice (iTunes, Apple Podcast, Google Play, Podcast Republic, Podbean, etc.). I personally use Podcast Republic.
You can also listen on the player at my website found at:

Discontinue unproductive bible study - jw broadcasting
by Gorbatchov inhttps://tv.jw.org/#en/mediaitems/latestvideos/pub-ism_2_video.
interesting video explaining how to end a bible study.. watch the kind of uber behaviour of the witnesses: make a choice or we leave.... so hard, so not christian.
no love for the person.. g..

This is just psychological manipulation. You like this thing (the study) but if you don't do the thing we want you to do (get in deeper) then we'll take the thing you like away. It's petty bullshit meant to apply pressure to the student. You can see it coming when they start shaming him for not being fine soil. They're setting him up to either shit or get off the pot and making him feel like bad soil. Shame is their motivator.

How to sue the WT over shunning policy. It CAN happen!
by Bad_Wolf inthis is a very good document from a law school exploring religious freedom vs an individuals right to religious freedom without blackmail, pressure, etc, and also explores why certain lawsuits did not win and what it would take to win them.
https://scholarship.law.upenn.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?referer=&httpsredir=1&article=3827&context=penn_law_review.
a person born in, and whose parents or family pressured to shun because they simply left the religion, who has evidence of damages, etc, would likely have a good case if they find a good lawyer.

A case about loss of clients, in a lawsuit seeking money damages, makes more sense than this emotional stuff you guys are talking about. He can show proof that he made x and lost that specific opportunity. It's easy, and he still lost. Trying cases seeking money based on emotion because someone won't talk to you? Good luck.
I look forward to your cases. I'll cover it on my podcast and hope you succeed but the hope here seems purely emotional.

I not only don't see this becoming a matter of successful lawsuits I'm not sure I want the government getting that involved in my life. The only way I can see winning money would be if there were monetary losses, and that's a tough one to prove. People can do business with whom they choose. I hate shunning, but I don't see how it becomes a matter of law. I read through much of that on break and still don't see much there.
Even if something came of it they'd just weasel their way around it like they always do.

Flawed Website
by pinkpizza inwhen i first seen this website i actually thought it was a jw website hence the home page and not an ex jw website and i posted a topic thinking people were real witnesses then i quickly discovered it was not and all these people were commenting and embarrassing me and i couldn’t even delete the thread.
then i asked the admin to delete it and i said it was very misleading saying it’s a jw page and he’s like are you serious i deleted your topic and now you are attacking me and it clearly says ex jw page.
he was very rude and btw no where does it say ex jw and you should be able to delete your own threads you start.

I love how he talks about the owner of the website not being able to take criticism yet he whines about the way his own post and resultant conversation went.
Flawed doctrine. Flawed person. Flawed ability to see what this website clearly is. Flaws on flaws on flaws but it's everyone else's fault.
My favorite is when JWs come here and don't realize what the site is. First, you're not supposed to even be on pro JW sites. Second, it shows the level of research these morons do before believing something.

While over the top, I can understand the emotion generated by such a horrific story that might lead one to doing that. It's a message that is probably more to make the occupants of the vehicle feel better more than to generate productive discussion, but if it makes them feel better who am I to argue. I'm just sorry they lost someone to the cult.

Same Talks Again and Again
by Akid48 inhey i’m back i know it’s been a long time since i’ve posted on the form but a lot things have been happening so i haven’t had much time to post.. ive been 14 for awhile now makes me happy because i’m getting closer to being able to get a job and work my way out of this.. i have meetings on saturdays now which is horrible because i rather have it on sunday because it’s already a sad day because i got to go to school the next day.three of our public talks have had different brothers saying the same thing talking about the signs of the end days.the thing that gets me is when they always try and bank on the earthquake part i mean i’m really into science so i already knew a lot about plate tectonics sea floor spreading etc but you get taught this in school.with plates always moving divergent convergent transform etc there will be earthquakes it’s the effect of plates moving against or rubing on each or going back into the mantle(subduction zones) it happens.so when there’s a report in japan of a lot of earthquakes it must be the end times!no japan is located on four plates it’s going to experience big earthquakes.. i don’t know that just gets under my skins when they try and say it’s the end days because of the earth having natural things happen like plate tectonics is something that’s been happening recently no we might have gotten our hands on the technology to spot earthquakes recently but this has been happening for millions of years.. speaking of years i hope you all have a great 2019 and i’ll definitely post more of my thoughts this year..
