Well, not to mention the woman who hit the lottery jackpot & then hid the ticket until after she filed for & received a divorce from her husband. But I think that's the exception, rather than the rule. Women are a helluva lot better at love than we men are, on the whole.

Ban on smoking in public places in the UK and todays news
by ball. inireland having just joined the list of countries banning smoking in public places, it has suddenly got media attention here in the uk.. as some of you know, i gave up smoking for a year and a half ago on a thread on this board.
i started again, however, i have always, as smoker and non-smoker, believed that such a ban would mean an infingement on your civil liberties and freedom.. then todays news along with a sad story about a 3 year old who died of obesity:.
obesity has now overtaken smoking as the biggest killer in the uk.. then i wonder, why is this nanny state discussing banning smoking in pubs, when they should be logically banning beer, in light of the new statistics and all the beer belies they show in these news items?

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.
Personally, I think there should be a choice. Bar #1 has smoking; Bar #2 does not. Patrons may choose which to enter. I'll take one with ashtrays, thank you very much. Ashtrays, pool tables, and dart boards. Besides the booze, what else does a bar need?

My friend and co-worker dead.
by Steve Lowry inhis name was robert thigpin and i worked with him for eight years (1990-1998).
last night he killed himself.
while we didn't always see things eye to eye, i could always count on him and he was a good co-worker.

The Joy Of Sex..
by Englishman in..is notably absent amongst middle-aged dubs.. maybe the joy of sex was forbidden to them?.
take a peek at the nov 1964 wt study: >>the male sex organs and the female sex organs were to cooperate in fulfilling this god-given command.
thus the sex organs are not playthings to have a lot of fun with, for such fun does not serve the divine purpose.

What would be the point of having a toy if you couldn't play with it???
A toy that no one plays with is called a "collectible". It mostly gathers dust, although it may occasionally be admired.

Getting "real" in personal relationships.................
by Sunnygal41 in"...generally, by the time you are real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby.
but these things don't matter at all, because once you are real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand..." the skin horse in "the velveteen rabbit" .
i was killing some time looking at different topics on the forum this morning, and i came across this wonderful, poignant comment in the infp thread gretchen started.

Thought I'd share the above quote here and see what everyone else had to say about it.
A talking horse? Surely it's the work of Satan. I was never allowed to read such drivel as a child.

by acsot inas i mentioned last night at our mini-apostafest supper, my posting rate is like my car mileage - i've had the car 4 years and don't even have 30,000 kilometres on it yet.. now i have 1,000 posts and it took ages to get here!
i don't know how some of you do it, i mean, 10,000 posts is like trying to reach the end of the universe without warp speed!.

Do You Defend Your Friends Even When They Are Wrong?
by new light ini know i'm way behind on the personal development thing, here, but do you stick up for certain people no matter what?
i had always thought that standing up for "righteousness" was all that mattered.
now i think its more important to back up loved ones even if they are in the wrong.

I think its more important to back up loved ones even if they are in the wrong. Any thoughts?
Nope. Sorry. I pull 'em off to the side & say "You know what? I think you're WAY off base here, and here's why ..."
