  i am leaning toward buying a dell notebook.

  who uses dell, and if so are you happy with them?.

  One of our computers is a Dell Dimension XPS, and it's still chugging hard after almost 5 years. the only component that I've had to replace was the hard drive (after 3 years). The kids use it now, as our other two desktops are custom built units that I was able to assemble for less than Dell wanted me to spend on a new XPS.

  My previous employer standardized on Dell workstations & laptops nationwide. When you see a company buying from a single vendor to support the computing needs of nearly 50,000 employees, it's a slam dunk vote of confidence. (Well, either that or someone at the corporate office was getting some incredible kickbacks. )

  Why is it that a JW can't say Happy New Year?

  new-years eve my husband and i went to my sister's house to bring in the new-year.

  my sister knowing much about jws cornered my husband and said " happy new-year don" and he replied" yep it's a 2005".

  i have been away from the bs of jwism for a long time and for the life of me i can not remember why it is wrong to celebrate a new year.

  i had an american flag up and she visited and had the nerve to ask me to take it down 'cause she didn't wanna be in a house with a flag flying over it

  I hope she never has to go to the courthouse to renew her license or to the post office to buy stamps or to a baseball game or ...

  THE GENERATION OF 1914

  it makes you wonder when exactly the governing body and their lawyers decided to change the "generation of 1914" doctrine.

  the first quotation below is from the 1992 wt and the second one from the 1993 brochure the purpose of life, just two lousy years before they imfamously dropped the whole idea:

  I feel that as they saw that JWs were hoping the end would come in 1984, 70 years being thought to be a generation. Then they were waiting for 1994, 80 years then must be a generation.

  Seems like, when I was a kid, the reasoning was that it wasn't just that people born in 1914 would still be alive, but those who were alive & who were old enough to understand the events that they were observing in 1914 would still be alive at the time of Da Great Tribbelation.

  It Just Occured To Me...

  that from the very begining, the society starts its indoctrination and seperating you from your regular life and family from day one.

  i remember how newly interested ones were strongly encouraged to profess to their churches leaders and others that they no longer are members, to point of having their names removed from memberships.

  also the warnings that we may receive heckling from friends and relatives if we continued to study, and how we should come to expect that as being normal.

  Adam was perfect,...Right?

  my wife and i were discussing adam being a perfect creation of god.

  we as jw's, have always associated adam with being such, but she tosses me a curveball and does not necessairily agree to the standard jw theology.

  she believes that had adam been perfect, the sins of the fathers would never have been visited upon his children, we would never have been locked out of paradise and all the ills of this world would never have been an issue.

  Well, that's why it stirs the thinking, ain't it? Otherwise, we'd just swallow it hook, line, and sinker because it was the Gospel troof.

  Adam & Eve could not have been perfect, IMHO. Otherwise, they would have been able to resist the temptation. But then again, it always seemed to me that G. Hoover Himself wasn't exactly perfect, either, having created da Debbil (along with gnats, mosquitos, the platypus, and foreskins ... I mean, why give us humans a foreskin & then tell us to lop it off? Wouldn't it have been simpler to just remove that gene from the pool?)

  Need your help! Wedding music ideas!

  ok all, my lovey and i are planning for the first song of our wedding to come after our vows are spoken, the ceremony ends, and he and i are going back down the aisle and into the house.

  we want everyone to follow us in order from the first row back, and we'll go in and cut the cake.

  thing is, we want a song to start as we head back down the aisle.
