I pointed this 'men who lie with men' thing (and the lack of scriptural comment about 'women who lie with women') out to some born-again types a year or two ago & speculated that even the Almighty must like watching two chicks together. Boy, did that ever raise a ruckus! *LOL*

Would you rather be a sports star or a rock star?
by Dustin ini was thinking the other day, if i could choose to be an awesomely gifted basketball player, or an awesomely gifted singer/guitar player; which would it be?
in the end i decided i'd rather be a rock star.
better parties, and definitely more of a bad boy image.

Rock star, definitely. Most jocks are washed up & ready for retirement at 35, or maybe 40. Some are crippled by injuries or dead before then. The rockers are still out there in their 50s & 60s. Compare Michael Jordan or Lyle Alzedo with Mick Jagger or Paul McCartney ...

Smokers - How do you justify it to yourself?
by AlmostAtheist ini've been smoking since i quit being a witness.
i smoked for a week when i was 15, i quit when i started studying.
my "smoking" then was only a few cigarettes, i was by no means addicted.

"I also think saying "[edit] 'em" is really heartless."
No doubt! But I'm still amused by the paradox of this older professional leaning in & saying that. I'm sure my eyes bugged out a bit in surprise at the time. -

"Smokers that smoke around non-smokers (except in designated smoking areas) really bug me." I remember about 10 years ago at a corporate event near Denver, we went out for dinner as a group of 30 or 40 people. And in between dinner courses, we'd light up & order another drink. I was sitting next to a very sharp, professional looking grandmother type ... probably in her mid-50s. And this sweet old gal seated next to me leaned in close & quietly said "Can you see the looks on the faces of the folks across the table from us? I don't think they like us smoking. F*** 'em."

The scary part is this: the vast majority of the avian flu cases seem to be coming from human contact with birds. And that strain has the 72% mortality rate.
They're also seeing some cases of the virus being passed between humans. I read an article a few weeks ago about one country (maybe Vietnam?) where 14 cases of human-to-human transmission had been documented so far. Out of those 14 people, only one survived. In other words, the mortality rate was nearly 93%. -

Guarding the platform at assemblies and conventions
by bronzefist incan anyone tell me why this practice was stopped.
i was told the reason for the guards was to prevent apostates from "attacking" anyone up there and disrupting the program.
has anyonne witnessed an "attack" of apostates gone wild?

by IP_SEC inso i trys this new beer tonight, its called negro modelo.

I've been partial to Budweiser for many years, but the Negra Modelo is pretty good stuff. And every now & then I have to grab a six pack of JW Dundee's Honey Brown.
