I did not respond to any of your previous message basically because I couldn't really add any more to what others have said.
It appears you will make a good JW for awhile. There are so many different scenerios and reasons why people left -- hopefully you won't have to suffer like a lot of us have.
Just so you know, we will be here whenever you feel the need to come back.

:) i was just curious when the memorial was this year?
is it at the end of march, at full moon, right?
Last year was the first one I missed during my lifetime. I felt like I should go, but when I really thought about it I realized that it was the "mind conditioning" that was telling me to go. I did not go and I felt like a tremendous weight was lifted off my shoulders. I was able to make a decision and not worry about the consequences (whether my parents would approve or not) and it felt wonderful.
I am happy to say that I will never attend another memorial as long as live. And my goal is never to step foot in a KH ever again (even when my parents die). We will see if that goal is attainable.

when you bump into a jw who you've known previously, do you still feel any connection at all?.
i seem to be a magnet for them at local supermarkets, i always stop and chat and can't help still feeling such a connection with them.
they were my "brothers and sisters" after all.
I don't feel a connection. Yes, there are people that I miss, but not many. I saw one person I knew a couple of months ago in a restaurant and I felt nothing but anger and disdain.
Yet the other night while I was collecting some things to give to charity, I came across a keepsakes box that I forgot I had. There were lots of cards from my friends over the years. It was sad thinking that the words that were written don't hold true for them anymore. I don't know how I would feel if I were to run into them (not likely as I moved away). Maybe things are just too fresh for me (been gone about 3 years now).

i have a question was wondering if anyone knew the answer to... .
i rent month to month.. have been here 8 years... the person who owns the property came by last night to inform me and others that the rent has went up $70 and is to be added to march 1st payment.. what i am wondering is.... it seems that he should have gave us a months notice before it went into effect.. do you know if that is the law or not?...
i live in indiana if that helps... .
Well. . . . I am a landlord and in California all you need to give is 30 days notice. Unless the tenant is a section 8 tenant -- then it is 60 days notice.
We just bought some property and my fiancee told all the renters that the rent was going up $25 and he gave them about a 7 day notice. I told him that 7 days wasn't legal and he said "lets see what they do". Sure enough the tenants paid the extra $25 on the first. So maybe if you tell the landlord that he has to give you at least 30 days --- you would be calling his bluff.

Generally not. My best friend left at the same time I did and we are still close.
I have one other friend who I keep in contact with. Occassionally I think about "the others" and I even type in a name or two into google now and then to see what comes up. But generally, I don't miss them.

My teenage daughter thinks it is "cool" to spit. She was spitting at a camping trip with another family and the father was disgusted by it. I had to just about physically restrain my daughter to stop her from spitting. She thought she was being funny. (NOT)
There is a city in the Bay Area where you are fined for spitting on the street (if they catch you).

hi all.. many of you have probably seen my posts on here before, but if you haven't let me reinterate my story in short for you.. i am currently dating a wonderful guy, but the problem is he has been considering becoming a jw.
he has studdied with them for about a year.
because of me has agreed to do some religion searching and figure out what he really believes.
You ask any JW on the street and they will tell you DFing is for real. And they will justify it by saying that someone is being shunned to "help" him or her.
I was DF'd when I was 19 and reinstated a year or so later. I am inactive now and STILL shunned by my parents. JWs will "mark" those who are weak and shun them as well. There are many examples on this site. Encourage him to look at this site and see for himself the pain and grief one goes through for once being a JW.
