I used to be #1 when I lived at home -- My dad was the PO and I was the teenager that led a double life. I was the "ADORED" daughter at the meetings and I could do no wrong -- or so they thought.
Thereafter I fell pretty hard and ended up a #7 as I was a single parent. I did get invited over occassionally -- when I needed to be encouraged.

as you know, a loyal dub is not supposed to watch stuff like pulp fiction, basic instinct, last tango in paris -- what films which are classics have you now watched and caught up with which you could not watch when you were a witness -- saw pulp fiction for the first time this week - brilliant
When I was a teen I really wanted to see "Platoon" with Charlie Sheen. My parents said no way.
That was the first movie I saw when I left the house. Now its not one of my favorites or anything, but I just had to see it. Oh yeah and they wouldn't let me watch Miami Vice either -- so when it went into syndication -- I watched the show religiously -- even taping the episodes I missed!

and then in time due to whatever circumstances(guilt,indoctrination,family,elder pressure,etc.
I was DF'd as a teenager and was back within a year -- cause my family helped me return. I lasted another 10 years before a counselor I had told me that I did everything to make the JW religion work, but it wasn't working for me. My last time in a KH was the 2003 Memorial. Haven't been back since and have no plans to return.
But I have seen others DF'd two and three times floating back and forth. I guess maybe they don't know anything else so they keep trying to go back.

i guess right after the announcement was read, one of the "friends" told her "it's kind of like a death in the family, isn't it.
To those of you who are df'd, would you have welcomed support of some of your non-JW relatives, even ones you haven't heard from in awhile?
I would have welcomed that when I was a teenager and I would still welcome it now. I am neither DF'd or DA'd and I am still shunned. I have contacted the members of my family that are not dubs and we are getting along just fine.
She is not dead or a lost cause. You can tell her up front that you are not on a fishing expedition. If she doesn't believe you, then show her by your actions that you care. JMHO
