I heard it on the local news up here in Northern California. They said it was "only a 5.2". If it was a 5.2 in the bay area the media would be ranting and raving looking for damage. I always get shook up because I expect the "big one".

Well, I have a GMail account ...

i must say, having 1gb of space for free is quite 'wierd'.
the hotmail account i have hovers on the 80% full mark (mainly from spam) and is to all purposes unusable.

I need your help
by Veritas ini need to know if it's ok for me to convert and become a jehovah's witness to be with the love of my life.
i need to know what you think about this idea.
if you agree with me converting, how would i do so.

I was an active JW when I met my boyfriend. He said "I would become a JW for you" and I said "I don't want you to do that -- you would be miserable". And I think that was a turning point for me. If he would have converted he would have been miserable and I did not want that. I left the JWs and for the first time in my life I can actually say I am happy.
I realize you may have a different personality or mind set, but you should seriously consider the advice you receive from this board.

Just about three years now. There are good days and bad days when the guilt and fear returns, but I can honestly say I have been happy these past three years.
I had a friend who went to the convention this past weekend and she saw some of my old friends. None of them asked about me and that saddened me deeply. But. . . life goes on.

Didn't go to assembly last weekend
by M@el5trom inthis marks the first time my wife and i didn't go to the district convention by choice (one other time we missed all three days due to illness).
my wife was sick this weekend, but we would not have gone anyways.
we probably would have gone camping this weekend if she wasn't sick and it wasn't raining all weekend.

I agree Nocturne. I mean I was single while I was in the org. and I couldn't find anyone!!! (thank god I didn't find anyone). If you go to another congregation the "eligible" brothers KNOW why you are there. It is pathetic. Getting rid of the internet dating thing is just another control factor. I would bet it will still be an active site.

i went to the meeting yesterday because my cousin was visiting and wanted to know where the kh was located.
i finally offered to go with her to avoid any issues.

It was my understanding that they could not DF you if you don't meet with them. A long time ago they could use the "cancellation" as an admission of guilt and DF you -- but not any more. I could be wrong. . . but that is what I remember.

I agree with cancelling the meeting. When I began to fade and sh*t started to hit the fan and the elders were "hearing" things about me -- they tried to call and email me in order to set up a meeting. I told them in an email that I was not able to meet due to my emotional/mental frame of mind. The one elder responded asking me to reconsider and I never replied.
Never heard from them again.

Encouragement to get back to the meetings
by cyber-sista ini keep getting these forwards from certain ones who i knew in the org.
they know i have left because i was "discouraged".
they are keeping their distance by not writing to me anything personal, but keep sending these "encouraging" forwards in hopes that i'll be re-awakened, dust off the book bag and head on back to the old kh.
