PS Even when you are on vacation in Hawaii, you are still expected to go to the meetings.
.
when jw's want a vacation, they have to go someplace to justify that they aren't at the hall.
so often we hear that brother of sister "x" went to hawaii for 3 weeks, and everybody is happy.. but, if a jw doesn't have the money to take a real vacation, but just wants to take, lets say 3 weeks off, and stay at home without going to any meeting, can it be done without questions asked, just like the couple going to hawaii?.
Only if the elders don't find out.

a long hoilday weekend coming up.
any special plans?.
in milwaukee, summerfest begins, and a bunch here, (those who post) in wisconsin are going.. what do you like to do.
We just plan to relax this weekend (strange concept for us). We have my step daughter this weekend (she is 3.5), but we have to have her back on Monday before any fireworks shows. So. . . we are going to a local fair on Sunday. It has fireworks all three evenings.
Our city used to be able to have fireworks, until last year they banned it. Kinda sucks.
Love2Be -- are you in Northern or So. Cal?

i'm really nervous and scared right now.
i just brought my boy kitty to the emergency care clinic with a blocked urinary tract.. i noticed something was wrong last night when i came home and his sister greeted me at the front door (he is always the first one to greet me).
i went into my bathroom and saw that one of them had pooped on the floor - something neither of them had ever done before.
Just saw this post today. Glad your kitty is okay.

when i got out of the dumbs, i use to cuss non-stop i think as a pathetic tactic to make worldy people think i was a little more worldy.
i still swear from time to time, and foul language does not offend me at all, but i was talking to my sister the other day, she just turned 21, has discovered alcohol, is currently on public reproof, and i think is really close to being on her way out herself.
she cursed like a sailor the whole time i was talking to her.
It is amazing how much me & my husband swear, along with a lot of our friends. We don't really notice it except for the weekends when we have my step-daughter -- then we really try to be good. Have to say it is quite difficult. I have had a potty mouth since I was a teenager.

my wife is going to the assembly in salt lake city over the 4th of july weekend.
anyone here condemned to that one?
i heard they are going to have huge fireworks display to celebrate the 4th and.........well, maybe i didn't hear that.
Anyone here condemned to that one?
LMAO
Thankfully. . . no. Pure torture.

minimus's post got me thinking.
where would i be if i were still a jw?
it's depressing to think about...
Oh man -- what a depressing thought! I would still be single (with a teenage daughter) -- and still looking for Brother Right. I would be hating going out in service (but doing it because I had to) and still making every meeting. I never really had any problem with the meetings until the last year. But I used to live alone with my kid and I would be FREAKED having to come home at night by myself. I always checked all the closets when I got home, before I could relax.
What a sad existence my life was.

before leaving the org were you considered to be a respected member of the jw community?
if you felt that you were, did this make it harder to leave and lose any sense of recognition and importance you enjoyed there?
At one time I was the elder's daughter, put on a pedestal for all to see. Then I was DF'd at 19 and things were never the same. By 24 I had a toddler and a divorce under my belt, so I fell even lower. At the end I was a single parent who didn't merit too much attention.
So I guess the answer to the question is . . . no.

.
well today is my wonderful husbands' birthday.. when we were first together he didn't want presents, cake, no celebration at all.. last night he was so excited about his gifts he opened one in the middle of the night.
he wants pizza for his birthday dinner and to go out for ice cream instead of a birthday cake.. i just feel happy that he's come so far and doesn't see birthdays as some evil happening.. wg
That is so sweet!
Happy Birthday to your husband!

we all are identified by our names here on jwd.
some use their real names, and others pick a moniker that is their nickname or perhaps a few words from a song they like.. why did you pick your name?.
for instance,.
My kitty cat's name is Purrrrs-a-lot (guessing at the spelling as my husband named her before we met). We shorten it to Purza.
