If it were not for the internet and the media, I believe WT would be able to say anything and get away with it. Though they would like everyone to believe in the congregation that the kicked us out, the fact remains that we walked away 4 years ago because we were tired of their "abuse after the abuse". Because we chose to answer questions from the media last year they have been shunning and treating us as if we were disfellowshipped anyway, because of the circulation of the apostate label by the elders. Their decision to formally df us is really hurting and theatening those who chose to remain our friends. They are the ones being victimized by this and threatened with shunning should they be caught talking to us. There was no reason to bring us up on their charges of apostasy. They are like those during the Inquisition. They themselves are the persecutors. I guess after all the years of them throwing mud on other religions they are getting a taste of their own medicine. Oh well, a "Rotten tree can't produce fine fruit" And by thier fruitage they are recognized.

S4,I always used this argument with anyone telling us to not slander. My husband would tell them slander is telling untruths about someone. That is what JR and the elders are doing to victims and thier advocates. They are implying that we are "defiled, and unclean" when the public statement is made that disfellowshipping is done to keep the congregation clean and undefiled.

It amazes me that this whole story has now made National News in Europe, Asia, Middle East and all. I remember when the elders told my daughter she must not tell anyone. She was only 12 at the time and wanted to talk about it with another girl she was friends with in the congregation. Her mother, a very dear friend of mine at the time called me and told me her daughter had mentioned the abuse and that my daughter must not talk about it. She was an elderette. Her husband and other elders later warned us that we must tell our daughter not to mention it to anyone in the congregation or we could be disciplined for slandering the pedophile's name and disturbing the peace of the congregation. I look back on this now and that warning was equal to what a pedophile tells a child. DO NOT TELL OR ELSE....
Well, now look. The whole world has heard her story. I am still amazed at this.

CHANNEL 9 NEWS TO INTERVIEW US TODAY

Hi everyone, it's been some day. The reporter from Channel 9 News called this morning and wanted to interview us on film. We agreed and they came around noon. They were here for several hours and interviewed me, my husband and our daughter. They also filmed in front of the Kingdom Hall in Bradley Beach, and also tried to interview the elder who chaired the committee. The reporter, Cynthia, said there were 2 cars in the driveway but no-one answered the door. So she never talked to anyone and noone answered any message she left on their phone. After speaking to us she felt the story was too much to do in one night, but her boss wanted in to air tonight, so she has worked very diligently on this. She took down the phone numbers of the Hawthorne elders where the pedophile and his family attend, but I am not clear on whether she spoke with them or not.

Channel 9 News called this morning and they want to come down to the Jersey Shore today to do an interview with us regarding what they have been following in the articles form the AP. Also the Star Ledger called last night to interview my husband.

JW's are an unknown fringe group
by joelbear ini went to a dinner party tonight that had about 100 people, all non jws.
laughter and merriment and a good time was had by all.. these were good honest hard working people who have no clue as to what jws believe or that they are going to be judged according to whether they believe like witnesses do.. it impressed on my mind just how unknown witnesses are and how little people pay any attention to their message.. witnesses think they are the center of the universe.

Joelbear, that is the first thing that came to my mind after walking away from WT. People just are not even aware of Witnesses, what they believe or even that they could be connected to WT. They are just "nice" old ladies who come to the door and wake you up on Saturday. At the Kingdom hall every talk made it seem like the whole world was plotting against us. And yet people are just not interested really.
