Just tired of the label "Apostate".
by rjl15225 inbare with me on this post.
i just need to get it off my chest!.
i find it interesting that in so many threads here in this forum and in others, to find the reference to apostates.

To me, being an Apostate (In JW terms) is a badge of honor, and I wear that badge proudly as it shows myself and others that I survived and have a life outside of the JW Cult.

My greatest hope is that I will somehow see and be with my little girl Chelsea again. I think about this every day. I can't say too much because I am still very sad about losing her. It constantly eats away at me that she is gone. If there is a higher power out there, it knows how badly I want this. I lost a huge part of myself the day that I lost her.

Did you ever "feel" the holy spirt "apon you"?
by highdose insome jw's claimed that when they were out door to door that they could feel the angels guiding them and jehovahs spirt apon them.. others claimed this when having prayed felt a sense of calm afterwards.
self induced?
physcological suggestion?.

I have been spirted upon many times, but it was never Holy, and never by Jehovah AFAIK, although I have screamed the occasional Hallelujah! And yes, I feel calm afterwards, and usually fall right to sleep.
Now I am wondering what Jehovah's Spirt would feel like. Would it be wet and viscous? Does he Spirt a lot, or is he more of a dribbler? Too many questions.

What was the first thing you did...
by OneDayillBeFree inwhen you left the man-made organization currently known as the wtbts??.
and for those still "in" but mentally "out" what have you started doing thats against the silly, stupid and non-scriptural watchtower policy/law/rule??.
i know the question has been made before on another thread but i couldn't find it and also there's been quite some growth in new ones here to jwn, so just wanted to see if we could all share some lovely/funny/random experiences.

I love reading threads like this! It proves even more that there is much happiness outside of the confines of a Cult. We are now happy, and free to express who we really are inside.
The first thing I did was get laid, then got laid some more. I also eventually found family that I never got to see because they weren't JW's, and it has been nice having a relationship with them after so many years.
The 2 door car comment was funny, and it reminded me of a time when I was a Reg. Pioneer and needed a vehicle. I found a guy who was selling a 1978 4 door Mercury Cougar as well as a 1967 Mustang Fastback. I had my choice of either one for $800. Being a pioneer, guess which one I picked? Yep, I ended up with the 4 door monstrosity that got about as much gas mileage as a Sherman Tank, and being such a big car I got to use it every day to schlep every one around for Field Service. Did the other Pioneers ever offer me gas money? Nope...

So, Rick isn't allowed to discuss JTB, yet others decide to keep fanning the flames, knowing that if Rick gives in and discusses it, he will be the one to get into trouble. Who are the real S&%$ Stirrers??? Entrapment and internet bullying are crimes. If you don't like what someone has to say, then don't read it. It is as simple as that. Unfortunately, I will be the one to get flamed because I am going against the norm here by trying to bring attention to an injustice. Flame away....
cyberbullying" was first coined and defined by Canadian educator and anti-bullying activist Bill Belsey, as "the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others." [1]
Cyberbullying can be as simple as continuing to send e-mail to someone who has said they want no further contact with the sender, but it may also include threats, sexual remarks, pejorative labels (i.e., hate speech), ganging up on victims by making them the subject of ridicule in forums, and posting false statements as fact aimed at humiliation.
Cyberbullies may disclose victims' personal data (e.g. real name, address, or workplace/schools) at websites or forums or may pose as the identity of a victim for the purpose of publishing material in their name that defames or ridicules them. Some cyber-bullies may also send threatening and harassing emails and instant messages to the victims, while other post rumors or gossip and instigate others to dislike and gang up on the target.

What was life like for you as a JW teenager?
by highdose inin the wt's illistrations they portray jw teenagers as happy, together group.
my experinace is that the jw teenagers in the cong were some of the bitchyist backstabbing arse holes i'll ever meet.. it was unheard of for us to engage in group "wholesome activity" as show in the wt's illistrations.
the competition amongst the girls for the handsome, sane and elders sons were cut throat.

Besides being eternally bullied in school for being a JW, I was scared to death thinking that Jehovah was going to destroy me for masturbating. I would try to go weeks without doing it, but eventually I would give in, and always felt worthless afterwards. I was always afraid that people would be able to tell that I masturbated just by looking at me, and the worst was having to go to our Doctor who was also a JW. I was paranoid that he, being a Doctor would be able to tell that I masturbated.
Growing up as a JW was a truly horrible and lonely experience, and trying to deny and hide my homosexual feelings just made it all the harder for me personally.
Those of us who have grown up to have a sense of normalcy in our lives after having suffered through some of the things we had to is a great accomplishment.

I have always been an ISTP.
ISTP (introverted, sensing, thinking, perceiving) is one of the 16 personality types identified by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). People with ISTP personalities enjoy having time to think alone and are fiercely independent. ISTPs also love action, new experiences, hands-on activities and the freedom to work at their own pace.
ISTP Characteristics
The Myer-Briggs Personality Indicator identifies your personality preferences in four main areas:1) Extraversion vs Introversion, 2) Sensing vs Intuition, 3) Thinking vs Feeling and 4) Judging vs Perceiving. For each of these dimensions, the MBTI identifies you as tending toward one end or the other of each dimension. As you can see, the ISTP personality tends to be Introverted, Sensing, Thinking and Perceiving.
- Introversion (I): How you direct your energy and relate to the world around you. ISTPs tend to be quiet and reserved.
- Sensing (S): How you take in information from the environment. ISTPs prefer concrete information rather than abstract or theoretical concepts.
- Thinking (T: How you make decisions. ISTPs make decisions based upon logic rather than subjective emotions.
- Perceiving (P): How you orient yourself to the outside world. ISTPs prefer not to plan things out in advance and like to keep their options open.
Some of the identifying characteristics of the ISTP personality include:
- Highly logical
- Enjoys learning by experience
- Action oriented
- Very realistic and practical
- Likes excitement and new experiences
- Self-confident and easy-going
People with an ISTP personality are results-oriented. When there is a problem, they want to quickly understand the underlying cause and implement some type of solution. ISTPs are often described as quiet, but with an easy-going attitude towards others.
ISTPs enjoy new experiences and may often engage in thrill-seeking or even risk-taking behaviors. They often engage in risky or fast-paced hobbies such as motorcycling, hang gliding, bungee jumping, surfing or ice hockey. In some cases, they may seek out adventure by choosing careers in areas such as racing, flying or firefighting.
ISTPs tend to be very logical and enjoy learning and understanding how things operate. They might take apart a mechanical device just to see how it works. While they are good at understanding abstract and theoretical information, they are not particularly interested in such things unless they can see some type of practical application.
Because they are so logical, ISTPs are good at looking at situations in an objective way and avoiding subjective or emotional factors when making decisions. People with this personality type can be difficult to get to know, often because they are focused so much on action and results rather than on emotions.
ISTPs prefer to focus on the present and take on things one day at a time. They often avoid making long-term commitments and would rather focus on the "here and now" rather than think about future plans and possibilities.
Famous People With ISTP Personalities
A number of famous individuals have been described as having an ISTP personality based on analysis of their lives, works and behaviors. Some of the possible famous ISTPs include:
- Tom Cruise, actor
- Keith Richards, musician
- James Dean, actor
- Clint Eastwood, actor
- Zachary Taylor, U.S. President
- Chuck Yeager, U.S. Air Force officer
- Alan Shepherd, astronaut
- Amelia Earhart, aviator
- Frida Kahlo, artist
- Tiger Woods, golfer
A few fictional characters that fit in with the description of the ISTP personality type include:
- Hans Solo, Star Wars
- Butch Coolidge, Pulp Fiction
- Blondie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
- Wolverine, X-Men
- Jason Bourne, The Bourne Identity
- Maggie Fitzgerald, Million Dollar Baby
Best Career Choices for ISTPs
Because ISTPs are introverted, they often do well in jobs that require working alone. ISTPs tend to dislike too much structure and do well in careers where they have a lot of freedom and autonomy. Because they are very logical, they often enjoy work that involves reasoning and hands-on experience. In particular, ISTPs like doing things that have practical, real-world applications.
Some jobs that ISTPs are well-suited for include:
- Forensic science
- Engineering
- Mechanics
- Computer programming
- Carpentry
- Law enforcement
- Software engineer
- Video game designer
- Electrician
- Scientist
- Pilot
- Firefighter

Here is my comment. Hopefully it doesn't get deleted from their comments section...
I am Gay, and was raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. When my Family and friends in the Kingdom Hall found out, I was disfellowshipped and shunned by all friends, and I was disowned by my parents. I was told that because of being Gay that I may as well be a murderer or rapist as far as they were concerned. My Father had died, and I did not find out until 3 years after the fact while doing a search on the internet. In the JW org. being Gay is one of the most horrendous sins possible. Thankfully, after much therapy, I was able to survive the trauma. Unfortunately though, there are many, many who have taken their own lives because they couldn't deal with the shunning and ostracism within the JW's just for being Gay.
Even so, I laud the Gay community for being empathetic to those who would rather see them die. Never would JW's do the same thing for Gay people, as it is totally against what they believe. The kindness of the Gay community proves even more to me that love for one another trumps the hate that JW's have towards those who do not believe what they teach.
Thank you to my Brothers and Sisters in the LGBT community, I am very proud to be part of you and your kindness.
