Would you support "Open Carry" legislation in your state?
by Glander inmany states have such laws.
it is being considered in many others.
if legal, would you openly carry a firearm?.

You are absolutely right, Glander. Responsibilty should always come with gun ownership. Training in the use of guns would be essential for anyone who chooses to carry one.

They were exactly the "type" most would think of to openly carry a weapon: white, late-30s, John Deere caps, wife-beater t-shirts, gun racks in the truck...sigh.
BTW,I intend to refine my "stereotyping" skills after graduation, and my industry has volumns of book written about the subject. We use it daily in "peremptory challenges." We use them, and my industry trains in them, because the are generally accurate. The key is to effectivly spot the exceptions. In that sense, we "profile" because our opinions are not biases that are not open to challenge from contrary facts.
Therefore, if I ever have a case that needs a jury comprised of people with anti-open-carry leanings, and I have a peremptory left, I will bump any guy sitting there in a wife beater, jeans, and cowboy boots, wearing a John Deere cap. And it will simply be called good lawyering.
I'm a White, Middle aged, John Deere capped, sleeveless T-shirt, jeans, and Cowboy boot wearing Male, but I don't carry a gun, and I have never beaten anyone. In fact, most of my peers that I hang around with don't have guns either. My Partner and I have already had the talk with each other about it, and we both agreed that if we were assaulted we would just take our chances and hope for the best instead of using a gun in self defense.
Quite a bit different than what you have profiled, Justitia.

Aussie Delicacy Vegemite Loses Some of Its Savory Appeal

I eat Vegemite just about every day. I can't get enough, and sometimes will have it multiple times a day as a snack. Sometimes when I don't want to make toast, I will put a dab of it on a spoon and eat it, just so I can get a taste of it. Marmite is Okay, but I much prefer Vegemite.
I have found that many people who don't like it really haven't given it a chance. It can be an acquired taste for some. The only analogy I can think of is a song. The first time you hear it, you may not like it, but then you hear it again, and you think, "Hey, that's not bad, it has a cool beat", then you hear it again, and again, and before long, you buy the CD because it becomes a favorite song, and you can't stop listening to it.
I doubt that I will ever get tired of eating Vegemite. It is a permanent fixture in my life, much like a nice, warm, comfortable relationship.

Those of you in relationships, when your partner gets clingy, is it flattering, irritating? How do you deal with it?
by La Falta Habitacion Por Sr Hor-Hey!! ini'm just curious as i'm on the outside looking in when it comes to relationships, yet i recall undercover explaining to me a year or so ago on another thread how his wife was clingy one morning before he went to work.
it made me wonder as someone who's single, what do you feel when you need to be somewhere and your significant other is clingy at the moment?
or when your out and about and he/she is clingy, is it flattering, irritating?

I think that something that hasn 't been touched on here is that for both men and women there are times when both sexes may feel more clingy due to going through stresses brought on by difficult life situations where one or both of the partners need a shoulder to cry on or rest your head on. When my wife is feeling stressed and perhaps more needy at times - I feel complimented that she wants to cuddle, cling, or rest her head on my shoulder, it makes me feel she can rely on me for emotional support.
And the opposite is true - if I'm feeling down and need a hearing ear or just an emotional support or cuddle I don't mind clinging onto her - she's always there for me , it's part of what makes a happy relationship when both people can be there for one another.
There are ways to handle it if a partner is clinging to you and you need to be somewhere - just kindly say " Sweetie, we'll talk about it after I get home, just know I care and I'm here for you. " I mean, let's face reality- everybody here has some insecurities , some more than others - it's not necessarily a weakness to reveal those insecurities to your partner- in fact - it takes more strength to open up and be trusting with a partner that they'll listen to you in order to really understand your issues and vice versa.
Flipper,
x1000!!! You very eloquently took the words right out of my mouth!
Balance and compromise is the key to a great relationship.

BOTR,
Pain is horrible, and as you well know, it can be both physically and emotionally draining. I am sorry that you are hurting, and I hope that you find the strength to manage your pain. There are a lot of us here who care for you. I know that even the kindest words can't take away pain, but I hope that they can at least make your pain more bearable, as well as knowing that we are here for you to lean on when you are feeling down.
I have recently started learning to pray again, so I will add you to my prayers, as well as sending you some positive healing thoughts.

I also make little vegemite "Cookies". I use Pringles potato chips, and spread a thin layer of vegemite on each chip. Then I put a little bit of shredded Cheddar cheese on top, and heat them in the microwave just until the cheese starts to melt. Then I immediately put another pringle chip on top and press them together. Then they are ready to devour! The pringles work so well because they are the same shape and they stack together perfectly. It makes a great snack!
I heartily thank my friend BP for sharing with me me the deliciousness that is called Vegemite!

Vegemite is one of my all time favorite foods. We just ordered more last night. When the jar gets low, I start getting stressed that the new one will get here by the time I run out. It is like an addiction for me. I like mine slathered on buttered toast. There is nothing better in the culinary world. Every once in a while, they sell it by the big 5 pound plastic tubs. I need to save up, because the buckets cost about $120. It is soooo worth it though! It does get to be a little expensive buying it in jars, as a 220g jar costs around $14 with shipping, and only lasts about 3 weeks if I use it sparingly. I would love to use gobs of it, but it would just cost too much.

I'm not a camper. I don't see the point in pretending you are homeless
by wha happened? ini used to camp alot as a kid.
i was in cub scouts and boy scouts.
dad and i went to lot's of camping trips.

When I was a kid, a few families from our Kingdom Hall would go to a little Island to camp for a couple of days. It was fun when I was younger, getting to sit by a campfire, sleep in a tent, and go fishing. When I lived in Florida, I bought an old 1963 Scotsman camper, one of those rounded bubble looking campers. I thought of all the fun trips I would take in it. Unfortunately, I never got around to taking it anywhere, and it sat in my driveway until I sold the house. The only time I used it was one night while it was parked in the driveway, I set up the stereo, lit oil lamps, had plenty of beer to drink, and my Dog and I camped for the night in it. That has been my adventures in camping-lol
Thanks for the fun thread, and bringing back some fun memories!!!

Need info on Revised JW book that was 'recalled' ... was it ....
by talesin inthe truth that leads to eternal life?
i am trying to raise some money for school, and my father has given me consent to sell his collection on e-bay, which dates back to the rutherford days.
my sibling and its progeny have no interest in retaining the library, so he would rather sell the books, than see the collection eventually go in the trash.. .

You should make some pretty decent money on Ebay! The literature sells really well, especially the earlier items and the unusual. Growing up, I used to collect the literature, and had many rare items. Unfortunately, my Mother refuses to give me back my collection because I am not a JW any more, even though it was my collection that I paid for myself. For all I know, she could have given them to her KH.
I have started a library again, and fortunately I was recently given a set of Watchtower reprint bound volumes from 1879-1916 as well as some original Studies in the Scriptures and some of the Rutherford era books. They are getting really hard to find nowadays, and any items I get, I won't let go of.
Please be sure to check values first. Common Rutherford era books sell well, even though they usually sell for under $40-50 depending on condition. Then there are Rarer Rutherford era books, such as "Comfort for the jews" etc. which go well over $100+. There are some Russell era books that are worth hundreds of dollars each, and a select few that go into the thousands! Of course, these high values are for the earlier and rarer books.
Even the old Brochures, programs, phonograph records and unusual items are worth a nice amount, and I am often shocked to see what they are actually selling for!
I am happy for you that you have access to the literature, you very well may be able to pay for your schooling from what you make! Be sure to offer shipping to the USA, you will get more bids. Good luck selling!!!
