My exhibition private view is tomorrow :s - wish me luck?
by reboot inim so nervous...10 of us are exhibiting at a prestigious gallery in the south.was ok but am bricking it now.its in a beautiful georgian house gallery that dickens and thackery regularily visited when it was a house...(you can vote for it on restoration programme bbc2 july 25- or it could close...arts funding crisis looming..remember....art feeds the soul and soothes the mind and is sometimes the most easily accessable social concince/voice.....).
.hope everyone turns up.should have 150-200 people ..invitations have gone out..copious amounts of wine ordered..food bought..have got waitresses sorted out and just got to hope we're well received or we'll all be in the corners drinking and bereft of all our confidence.......i've invited all my local friends most of whom are school teachers or just lovely , so they might justcounteract a friend's over critical father and another's partner who's able to flatten your confidenceat 50 paces....can you tell ive hit the winealready?
lol im throwing them all a party to celebrate the end of this course and the start of the degree next sat so if its a disaster we'll jsut drown our sorrows there...and if we sell any we're all going on holiday together... i'll post if it was a total disaster...and *newsflash* reboot's gonna wear a skirt.....

Cooking Ideas
by desib77 inokay, the thread on budgeting and money made me start thinking.
the thing my husband i spend the most money on is eating out.
there is one very good reason for this, i can't cook.

Hi Desib,I'm late getting in on this also ( work). But cooking is one of my favorite subjects. Started out at a young age 9...lived on a farm and had to work with my step-dad so I made a deal with my mom ,you go work with him and I'll do the cooking and house work! trust me it was a great trade off! Kinda scared the farm hands at first but after a few meals they looked forward to it. Then cooked for years as a living. Always cooked every meal as the kids were growing up!
My son really likes this recipe it is his signature meal...
Lasagne
He cooks his lasanga noodles in boiling salted water in a very large pot, cook till just soft not really to the doneness you would eat...
Brown ground beef 2# drain......... He buys canned prepared spaghetti or an italian sauce...... mix about 12 oz.sauce in with the cooked meat.....
Buy grated mozarrella or grate your own.12 oz.... 1# container Ricotta cheese( or cottage cheese) Ricotta looks better not as milky.
In a pan the length of the lasagna noodles in alternating layers place a layer of the meat If you really like the sauce pour more on then a single layer of noodles...layer of ricotta...sprinkle on mozzarella...keep adding layers till ingrediants are used.Bake at 350* till bubbly check at 10 to 15 minute intervals.Top should be a little brown. I'm always hearing that my daughter -in-law has taken the dish towel off the smoke detector. so your not alone in the warning department.... great with French bread. and a salad. Of course the Okie version goes great with fried potatoes & cooked green beans.
I agree with the other folks. Grilling is always good, forman grill is great, but if you can have an out-door grill.I prefer wood or if you have to charcoal. as opposed to gas but just MHO.... takes a while to get the knack but you will...
I have lots of easy dessert recipes if you want pm me and I'll share. I'm sending you a pm of a magazine that will help you step by step.
Don't know about you Desib but I would be interested in Valis recipe/version of Ceaser Salad tried different ones but none that really say yes thats it.now thats ceaser......whatcha say Valis?
Thanks for the thread btw.

Photos of Stunning Peacock which has been driving me up the wall for days!!
by Celtic inthis ruddy bird has been driving me up the wall for ruddy days with it's ruddy call, at first i thought it liked me, thought it might want to mate with me or something.
every time i got close to it, it would put out it's feathers in this enormous and beautiful display.
today however, would the ruddy bird do it for me, ruddy thing is as cantankerous as valis.

My kids had a pair of theses gorgeous birds for a while when they were younger and the male would leave all the time. We would go to the neighbors and look for him to take him home.Once I talked to a neighbor asked if he had seen a peacock at his house and he said "yes in fact this morning I looked out the window and there was one in a mesquite tree" I said well it's probably ours I'll send someone to get him.He replies "no,I prayed for one & I get up this morning and here this one was" He thought it was the answer to a prayer.so I didn't have the heart to take it.But I've often wondered what he thought when it left.
Celtic,thanks for the pix.
*made a note for future use never say Celtic, lives anywhere but Cornwall

Those true life stories in the mags
by trumangirl inthose life stories of bros and sis's in the awakes and wts were always very inspirational and encouraging to me when i was in the borg.
everyone enjoyed reading them.
now i realise that these experiences would have been censored and edited for maximum affect on the readers.

I was thinking along the line of some of the comments already written that there were plenty things left unsaid...Of the few stories I know of personally.the people are still in wts.and one was accurate.but the bro.was such a jerk.even knowing his story didn't help you like his personality.
Then don't know her personally but was told of a woman thats story published who is no longer a jw.dfd for adultery.

New Nail Polish!
by patio34 ini had quit wearing nail polish because it chips, etc.
but i happened to buy revlon's new "10-day system" for $5.99 for two bottles: the color and the top coat.. i did a french manicure and it has lasted with nary a chip or peel for 7 days now!
and i've scrubbed stuff, done dishes, washed my car and on & on it lasts!.

Reading this thread while my nails dry.
I have tried Revlons 10 day system and found that it lasts a long time, stays looking great.also have used the top coat on my other polishes and it helped them last longer.
Thanks Frannie B.for the nail dryer advice,I'll have to try that. With the high humidity here seems like it takes forever for polish to dry.
I have always been a girly-girl & usually worn just about every color except, reds or darks. When I wore a dark red last time I done my nails,I got a great compliment on the way my nails looked,So suppose I will be wearing more reds,Will look for the "waitress.... color.
BTW Pat the thread.

'Guy.
That was too funny.thanks for posting those I needed the laugh. Reminds of the big ole' collie that helped raise my youngest boy. When we moved from a dry climit to sweltering heat here in Okla.I would shave him completely to the skin every summer & I swear it would embarrass him,by the way he acted.Sadly we lost him this winter... he is missed.
