I find it hard to believe that the WTS heavies are not hypocritical since their behaviour is really way out of line and it's precisely through being self deluded and hypocritical that they can (if they really can that is) believe that what they do is correct.
I mean come on, torturing people by shunning them and ruining their families because it's supposedly good for their salvation prospects, that was the popish mentality justifying the horrors of the inquisition.
Or how can a "christian" society worth billions score a near zero in charitable works when the Jews and the Moslems do much better at least with their own kind.

"If WTS is so intent on recruiting new members then...
by rebel8 in...why are they also so intent on kicking people out?
you'd think they'd want to be more lax in order to keep their membership numbers up.

As JWs, ever met any annointed ?
by greendawn inin your time as jws did you ever meet any of the annointed?
did they have good christian personalities and what did they think of the wts and its governing body ?
i met one and he was very unhappy with the way the gb treated him and generally the way they run this society, he told me he wrote them two letters containing a long list of complaints with full scriptural support but he was ignored, first letter got a reply amounting to "no need to write to us" the second one no reply at all.

And at one time there was a lot of friction between him and the elders.
At that time he had been a JW in good standing for 50 years, dedicated all his life to them from age 18 to 68, (pioneer and missionary in his younger days) but was never made an elder and he certainly was a world apart from the typical cold, unloving, harsh and rigid WTS mentality. -

What religion have you changed to now that no longer a witness?
by AK - Jeff ini know many have rejected the idea of organized religion.
i teeter on that myself.
but i have toyed with hooking to a little country church with some friendly people to associate with.

After the JWs I stuck to the core christian beliefs but I never believed there is a totally genuine christian religion out there but many are much better than the WTS. I quite liked the evangelicals and at one time helped one of their theologians in his anti JW and general anti cult activities.
Remember the WTS is a very high pressure cult group, a business that tries to pass itself off as a serious religion. They irresponsibly place the burden of salvation squarely on their members shoulders and do nothing to help them instead they constantly whip them and selling their publications is part of the salvation process. This certainly makes for a lot of unease, stress, anxiety, and sense of being constantly oppressed.
The catholics, orthodox etc put more emphasis on salvation through the church sacraments minimising individual responsibility, the born again christians emphasize faith rather than works, such attitutes make for a non pressured more relaxed and peaceful approach to spirituality. After all did not the Christ crush the forces of Satan on the cross, so why should we stress ourselves out too much for our salvation?
I think it is good to associate with a serious christian entity ( but beware of cults!!!) though the totally genuine version does not exist and perhaps never did and never will until the second coming. -

Was Anyone Reinstated But Felt Marked?
by love2Bworldly injust wondering if any of you experienced what i did years ago when i was reinstated.
although people were excited about my reinstatement and said things like "welcome home", i could tell when i would see people i used to be close to--that they still treated me differently, almost like i had a disease or something.
maybe it's because i was married to a non-jw and had a baby by then?.

Living with Soundness of Mind in an Electronic Age - KM Part this week
by ezekiel3 inlooks like it is time to remind the flock that jwd is deathdealing.
this week service meetings are recycling old kingdom ministry articles regarding the danger of electronic communication such as the internet and email.. .
like i heard at a recent circuit assembly, "don't let your mouse turn you into a rat!".

Zugzwang it's good that you are only 29 and have plenty of time ahead of you to make up for things. Other people lost here 20 or 30 years.

As Jeannie I would make sure that the WTS and all its daughter corporations are permanently dissolved and their very substantial assets are shared out, used to compensate all those that suffered due to their endless lying and rigid dictatorial style of rule: suicides, deaths from refusing blood transfusions, oppression and grinding depression, ruined families, cruel hurt from shunning. Not to mention slaving away to sell their publications.
Not sure whether elders and other big cheeses should be let off, being accessories as the local whip boys enforcing WTS policies. They also deserve some beating. -

Al Capone vs. Judge Rutherford

al capone vs. judge rutherford

This is a great posting that mercilessly exposes the worthlessness of one of the JWs greatest idols and real founding father. I didnt know he had two yachts and took long holidays in Europe so often. And all that luxury during the great depression, it makes it look much worse.
Another very significant thing about Rutherford is that he was not just a big liar, manipulator and exploiter as all JW FDS have been after all to this day, but he was also a demon communicator (if not worshipper) since he admitted that he was getting all his religious information from angels. Given the fact that most if not all of the things they told him turned out to be lies or absurdities, that makes them fallen angels. And he no doubt knew this but he chose to go on playing with them because he needed their protection and guidance. -

Lack of evidence in "Insight" *gack* book supporting stake theory.
by kwintestal inafter a short discussion regarding the cross vs. stake theory with my grandmother i decided to refresh my memory of the wts doctrine regarding this and it's supporting arguments.
i was surprised to find that they only used one supporting reference to their claim.
it's a quote by john denham parsons written in 1896 (interesting that it took over 30 years for god to mention this to his mouthpiece).

I also agree that it makes no difference on what sort of cross Jesus died but the JWs are making a meal out of it in order to intensify their separateness and denigrate the rest of the world.
The cross is obviously nothing but a symbol of salvation for christians not one of pagan gods. In it they see the heroic act of their saviour that brings freedom. -

Introducing myself
by bitca ini've been lurking here for a while, so i figured it's time for me to introduce myself.
i was raised in "the truth".
both of my parents were witnesses, and so were their parents.

Welcome Bitca there are thousands of people that had similar experiences to you and you will find lots of relevant threads on this board, old and new.
I liked the way you decided to go to college and get a proper education, ignoring the JWs who always strongly discourage this.
Not only do they not help you much in case of financial need, but I believe the real reason why they discourage this is because they greatly fear thinking educated people with prestige who can point out their lies and cause agitation. They dread criticism so much because their whole belief system is so shaky and can readily fall apart with the least scrutiny hence why all critics are promptly expelled and shunned.
