The kingdom was supposed to get established visibly in 1914 and overthrow human governments and when that failed they said: "oh yes it was established but invisibly." That is a very convenient cop out to evade the embarassment of their false predictions, yet it's not what Russell was preaching for 35 years. Very fiddly.

I am not into cats as pets but you have done a great act of kindness to that destitute kitten by giving it shelter and food. I will soon be getting a puppy to replace my dog that went missing recently, about a month ago.

Congrats Cooler King, your story is interesting how the JWs nearly drove you to suicide something that resulted basically because you wanted to study at university.
I suppose JW attitudes can differ from country to country, I studied at university as did many other young dubs at that time and no one objected to this in any way. -

hindered prayers says my wife...so I stopped
by oompa ini really have never understood prayers too well or how they are answered or not.
i really think it is more of a self-help type excercise.
aren't there some really funny experiences in the yearbooks on prayers answered!?

Interesting what kind of associations go through the mind of a JW: because you want to check up on the FDS sacred cow, his behaviour and doctrines, their jehovah will no longer listen to your prayers. That's how important the FDS is in their mind, displeasing him means getting cut off from God.

Why are you concerned with these dates, they refer to events that are, very conveniently for the FDS, unverifiable by those who are listening to them. Yet they have weaved around these a big claim, that of Divine appointment which they use as a foundation of their status.
But it's strange that they talk about the resurrection of the saints as having happened when the living saints clearly haven't been taken up yet. Therefore there was no resurrection because there was no rapture. -

The way they got them to relate to God couldn't have been worse since it is based on fear and it can never make for a healthy relationship between man and God. They fear God whereas only those freely relating to him can really respect and glorify him.

The JW who said that the WTS is not into profit may really believe that but in fact the dub org is very money minded their charitable works record is abysmal though, gasp, they are registered as a charity and they even allied themselves with Jim Swaggart a man of satanic false religion according to them to try and save on taxes. It's a very tight org.

Heart broken yet again
by 4mylove inmy husband asked me this morning, "did your parents not want to do something with you yesterday since it was your birthday?
my birthday is monday.. i told him this and he said he thought he had forgotten.
i guess i should let it go because i know who i married, but it still hurts.
