Some really dedicated ones care especially if they are trying to impress their superiors in order to get promoted inside the org to higher and more prestigious positions. But most do not care they are just coerced into doing it by the subtle and not so subtle mind control techniques applied on them by the FDS so that he can reap benefits from their labours.

Do you think JWs actually care if they convert people or not?
by LouBelle inthe reason i ask this is because when i was on the field way back in the day - i really couldn't be bothered if the householder was interested or not.
if they took literature and paid for it (we asked a certain price for literature before it all became on a donation basis) it was a bonus, plus meant money for a cooldrink / tea & cake afterwards.. actually i would prefer it if they weren't interested so i could get away from the door - sometimes their ""conversation stoppers"" made too much sense and i couldn't answer back.. that meant i didn't convert anybody.
do you think most of the jws' are like that today?

was Rutherford a drunk person ?
by jose45xyz inis there anything to prove that rutherford had the custom to be drunk ?.
thank you in advance.

That is the general consensus of those that knew him, he used to drink to excess and poisoned everyone and everything around him with his very aggressive and domineering personality. It's also well known that he was leading a life of great luxury using the WTS wealth.
Certainly not the saint he claimed he was so as to have been hand picked by God as the leader of His earthly organisation and main channel of spiritual knowledge from God to man. What a disgusting, cheeky claim. -

Be Fair = Witnesses are NOT a cult!! What about Christians or democracy?
by Witness 007 inpeople like to throw around the cult word when describing the watchtower society.
but look at the definition of "cult" and you will see it applies to any system of thought concieved by an individual or group to control others.
are christians a jesus cult...yes.

No matter how we define cult the JWs are one because they manifest the essential definition of a cult, rigorous control of personal life, prohibition of all and any criticism of the leadership and its ideology and a drastic separation from the rest of the world.
They are not the worst out there but they are bad enough. Eg if you don't preach or attend their meetings you will soon be marginalised and stigmatised as a weak brother. Even if otherwise a very upright and principled person and loyal, responsible parent. -

So it's as clear as daylight that the JWs are a cult and denying that is like denying the blindingly obvious. Tight control plus swift and ruthless punishment in store for anyone disturbing the leadership, their ideology and their powerful hold over the hypnotised JW masses. A fascist system under the guise of religion.

Sometimes the "worst thing" turns out to be the "best thing"
by Dawn inhi all - it's been a while since i've gotten a chance to sign on and visit you all.
nice to be back.
i wanted to share a story with you - maybe it will help some that are just getting out and going through a rough time.. a good friend of mine came to me today - he and his wife are expecting their first child and just found out it has down's syndrome.

That's quite some story, you courageously made the right decision, thankfully, despite the great adversities of that time so that you now have an intelligent son studying at university.

It's sickening, with so many childless couples looking to adopt someone that newborn could have easily found a home so killing it was so horrid and needless. Reminds me of the recent film "Juno".

How do you talk/reason with a Jehovah's Witness?
by misspeaches inhi guys, yesterday someone asked me on how they could reason with a jehovah's witness.
the question just stumped me!.
from my own perspective, the people i know that have left the borg have had varying triggers... problems with flip flopping, dates, abuse, scandals, exhaustaion to name a few.

I am also pessimistic on this, a JW will give heed only if s/he has alredy realised that something is seriously wrong with their org otherwise lol, the WTS has done a good job in creating a population with a closed mind that is impermeable to any wind of truth. You will for ever hear the parrot song: "we have the best religion on earth today". Thinking much will give them a headache.

Does anybody actually believe in the Global Warming swiz?
by The Nothing Man inobviously by my post title you can gather that i don't, but thats not to say i do not agree with lowering pollution in whichever way we can.
but on the flip side, just another money grabbing ploy by the government?
the uk government is making a big thing about it through their mouthpiece on earth, the bbc.

Who knows, the sea level seems to be rising and lowland areas in some parts of the world are getting flooded near the sea but is it the Carbon Dioxide emitted from man made activities or is it some other natural phenomenon? Such thngs happened in the past, the rise and fall of sea level, long before the industrial era.

AK-Jeff turns traitor!!
by Open mind inhe has allowed his picture to be used smack dab in the middle of the front cover of the may 1, (public edition) watchtower!
i'm so disappointed.
sorry i don't have a scan.. can anyone else provide one?.
-
greendawn
It has to be a tiger even a white Siberian tiger. Or else the WTS printed one of Jeff's photos from his JW days, the art department didn't realise that he left their org long ago. So there goes an "apostate" on a dub magazine.

Would You Really Want To Live Forever With Dubs?
by shamus100 inhere is the hypothetical question of the day - would you, or more appropriately, could you live forever in paradise on earth with jw's?
with the hypocrosy, silly elders, silly people... feeding lions and cleaning up after animals... everyone living by waterfalls, like the jw's always portray in they're psychotic pamphlets..... or would you rather be dead.
i, personally, would much rather be dead.
-
greendawn
Number one, biblically there is no paradise as the JWs perceive it and number two if there were one they wouldn't ever make it into it due to the malicious nature of their organisation and leaders. They are up to no good, let there be no mistake about it.
