Old soul thanks for the info, there is also IMAO which sounds like "in my a? opinion" what does the a stand for? IMHO I think is "in my humble opinion", I hope so because I use it occasionally in that sense.

What would be on your 1.00 per day menu, and could you do it?
by SixofNine in.
imagine that you're givin the opportunity to win a substantial prize (say, 5000 dollars and a make-out session with angelina jolie or sam shepherd) if you can a) live for 60 days on one dollar per day, and b) retain your health better than other contestants.. ah, screw that, that's silly.
what would be your menu if you had to live on one dollar per day, and you could not accept free food?

What's the most thought-provoking novel you've ever read?
by lucky ini'd have to say for me that it was ayn rand's the fountainhead.
even though i don't agree with a lot of her philosophy, it definitely made me stumble around in a thought-induced haze for a few weeks after reading it.

My favourite is Count Monte Cristo of Alexander Dumas and the favourite quotes from it:
"Tell the angel who will watch over your life to pray now and then for a man who, like Satan, believed himself for an instant to be equal to God, but who realized in all humility that supreme power and wisdom are in the hands of God alone."
"I regard this restitution as a weight thrown into the scale to balance the evil I have done."
Both spoken by the Count. -

I don't exactly know what food prices are like in the USA but I don't think that with one dollar per day one can buy enough food to survive for 60 days most likely can't even get enough calories for each day. By the end of that period one would suffer from the effects of severe malnutrition. Perhaps $2 per day is more realistic.
However if it was necessary to do it then the best strategy is to use food that's cheap and nutritious and what come to mind are legumes, bread and pasta, patatoes, peanuts, sodas(soft drinks in the UK)are an absolute no-no since they contain just sugar and no other nutrition. Must eat at home to minimise expenses and buy a bottle with 60 vitamin pills, normally very cheap, to at least cover for these. -

Was it just a knee jerk reaction or was there a real chance that she might cause damage to your reputation in the future? I gather that if she saw you and later realised that you are a JW she might tell on you reading an apostate book.
That's how the WTS planned it out to control its members. -

The Bible against the FDS
by greendawn inthe fds are experts at using, that is misusing, the bible to smear and degrade their opponents.
however it would be great to play them at their own game and use some bible verses to return the mud on them.
some verses seem to have been written exactly for them and what i have in mind are paul's words spoken to elymas the sorcerer: .

IP those verses from Matthew are spot on and describe the JWs to a T. They are indeed ravenous wolves wearing a very very smart sheep's clothing: they always talk as if they are genuinely interested in promoting Christian values and culture but their works are of a wolf like grabbing mentality with an insatiable lust for power, and they certainly tormented with their thorns many people.
Also that ridiculous invisible presence of Christ first invented by the Millerites to explain away their prophetic failure, whereas Christ was always invisibly present. Where was the visible presence? -

Agape means christian brotherly love something lacking in the JW society.
It's great jeff that this board had a profound curative effect on you and the fact that you want to help others is a sign of maturity. To be an apostate ie stand away from the poisonous atmosphere of the WTS is the right thing to do. -

"O man full of every sort of fraud and villainy you son of the Devil, you enemy of everything righteous, will you not quit distorting the ways of Jehovah?"
That's straight from the NWT. I would say using their own language that Elymas the original type is a very fitting description of the FDS who is therefore his modern day anti type. I really like "distorting the ways of God" as by ruining families, shunning people, etc in the name of God and his written word.
Can you think of other suitable verses? -

Is the Governing Body in Danger at Bethel as More Bethlites read the Net??
by frankiespeakin indo you think the gb should limit contact with bethelites because of possible harm that could come to them right there at headquarters.
i mean think of how many bethelites have interent access and know the gb are tyrants, but are stuck there at bethel because they have no money and no place to turn because they have been there for many years.. i think many gbs purposely keeps to themselves now a days, they probably should even think seriously of a body guard even while at bethel.. have you notice the wt doesn't give any advance notice when a gb will be speaking at conventions anymore, could it be that they are worried that some father or other family member who lost a child through thier no blood policy, finds out throught the internet that the gb are phoneies and now blames the gb for the loss of life.
think of how dangerous it would be to give advanced notice when so and so gb member would be giving a convention talk.

I've also thought about this how strange that with all the lives they've ruined a cookie never went there to cause them some serious harm.

Annie I am aware that what I said was somewhat off topic but I wanted to reinforce Frankie's hope that the GB's days are numbered as I am aware of how resentful he is for the disgusting way they treated him and others.
