Good you saw the light to pioneer means to waste your time for the org instead of your own future prospects, the point is that should you need help later on in life the org will keep its distance it is not a charity as they like to say.

Just finished uni after 4 1/2 years!!!
by JW83 ini started uni doing a ba the year after i left the dubs.
then i got pregnant & married, & still continued ... i have just finished my honours year in history - i did a thesis on why the dubs were banned in australia during ww2.
talk about full circle!

The founder of this sect Russell celebrated Christmas and birthdays, then later you get the dumb jw reasoning: because birthdays are mentioned in a bad context in the Bible (Pharaoh, Salome) they have to be wrong. It's a very arbitrary kind of logic.
As for Christmas instead of seeing it as it is, an opportunity to learn something about the Christ and his coming to the world they prefer to label it as a pagan celebration. -

THE WATCHTOWER & ISLAM

1. has the watchtower ever directly critcised the islamic faith or its sacred text, the koran?
if so, what are some specific examples.

They can't mess around with the Moslems because there are among them fanatical people of medieval ruthlessness and brutality, and that's also why they never dared do any preaching in moslem countries as they did in say the ex communist states where things were also quite tough, for all their bravado and talk as God's own org that preaches the gospel to ALL nations they desisted. It is not good for business at the end of the day if all WTS assets globally became targets for the al quaida.

prior to 1959 the exclusive brethren, whilst conservative, tended to have a more open outreach and even allowed some fraternizing with non-members.
however, following directions from their leaders in 1959, they suddenly slammed closed the doors, introducing beliefs such as: refusing to eat meals with anyone who was not a member and (this makes me sick) automatically breaking up families if one spouse questioned the authority of the leaders.

Even if the WTS doesn't totally collapse and vanish from the face of the earth their total membership could be reduced permanently to about 10% of its current number of 6 million.
However artful they may be in denying their doctrinal and historical problems and suppressing dissent with a ferocious shunning policy eventually people that can't see the end coming will be leaving in droves.
At the end of the day the only people that will really suffer are the GB and perhaps the unknown shareholders because their business will lose most of its slave work force. On the other hand they've done so well by now in accumulating properties and other assets I don't think they really care. Perhaps to them the slave workforce is just an additional bonus. -

I Think I'm Falling Away..

trouble is, i'm not finishing them.
i get a bee in my bonnet, start to type furiously, sometimes with 2 fingers instead of 1, then i just lose interest and cancel the whole shebang.. maybe it's just a phase i'm going through.

This happens to me whenever I feel hungry and it's time to go and eat. Occasionally though I may worry whether the post is going to be an embarassment that I will have to later delete, by being for example too irrelevant to the thread or something really stupid or offensive to some people.

Killing the WTS subtly programmed ideas.
by greendawn inafter leaving the jws can you recall any instance(s) where more or less suddenly becoming aware of a hitherto unconscious wts idea(s) subtly programmed into your mind, brought a great positive change in your persective of things and your overall disposition?
(once a subconscious idea is brought up to awareness it is easier to dispose of.
or perhaps the above happened when you really grasped the meaning of a programmed idea you were always consciously aware of.

They are aberrant ideologies and the point is not to take them seriously at heart, to me everything unravelled when I realised that the 1914 date was clearly wrong and that causes the entire WTS ideology and presumed status to collapse to rubble, the end is not near and so the whole claim of them being the org doing the separation of sheep and goat near the end, sole channel of God on earth, fear of the big A, all go out the window.

I'm thinking about going back to college, any advice?
by zagor ini think it would be great final chapter in my healing process, and would love to catch up with my life anyway (most of guys of my generation have finished it long ago and have kids).
i'm interested in science and engineering, but i'm afraid my mind my have become too dull over many years of brain washing.
social sciences sound great too but im not sure if i like them enough to pursue such degree to the end.

At your age you will be considered as a mature student of whom there are plenty and universities, in the UK anyway, have a more lenient attitude towards such students.
You should consider carefully what you will enjoy studying, where your affinities lie but even if you get in a course you don't really enjoy, at worst you just exit and lose a year. -

Are all sins "equal" to the JW's.

if a witness plays lotto, and doesn,t repent, he is disfellowshipped.. if a witness steals, and doesn't repent, he is disfellowshipped.. if a witness fornicates, and doesn't repent, he is disfellowshipped.. does this mean that the jw's consider playing lotto being just as bad as stealing or fornicating or even killing?.
how about you, in what order would you class sins?.

Putting together so many different "sins" under the disfellowshipping category shows how primitive they are in their ability to think. One wonders what does playing the lotto have to do with adultery.Let alone that their attitude towards sinners is very harsh under the pretext of keeping the cong clean.
The question is are the GB members morally clean so as to demand from others to be so let alone have the right to sanction them? -

Congratulations good thing you left the dubs because they look down upon university education, unless they changed their position recently, you could be pioneering rather than studying.

That's indeed one of the greatest challenges an ex-JW faces, to knock down the invisible wall that shuts him out from that vital feeling that he is part of mankind, an ordinary human being among ordinary human beings.
The WTS has greatly demonised all non JWs labelling them with the contemptuous term worldly people much as the Jews called all non Jews gentiles, a supposedly morally inferior lot.
The world is a mixed place and there are plenty of people who are much nicer than the typical JW and one has the option to mingle with these.
