There are always people looking for opportunities to meet and socialise with others and you will surely come across many in Hawaii or anywhere on earth.

Spiritual Paradise
by Honesty inhow many of you really enjoyed any of the jw's spiritual paradise found in joe hoba's visble organisation?

It's a place of darkness and intimidation a venomous force always operates here and creates depression and pessimism, many JWs are on anti depressants. Their spiritual life is based on the very negative sentiment of fear and is therefore artificial and lacks real depth, there is no real love amd compassion.
People come, see, and leave in droves. -

I am surprised that they say this having admitted in 1995 that the end may well be a very long way off, perhaps they don't want to have educated people in the org to challenge their control over it. To perpetuate this control they need naive and gullible members and education opens the eyes.
Amazing how they still want to go on messing up people's lives in the year 2005. Unrepentantly cultish. -

UPDATE: My Time Cameth & Wenteth
by LouBelle inon friday i let you guys know that my final jc was happening on sunday.
thanks so much for all the comments and well wishes.
i was nervous before i went - and though i've given up the faith i haven't given up my belief in god and his direction.. two of the three elders have seen me grow up - i was born in the truth.

Congrats for keeping up your dignity versus an org that doesn't have any christian love or compassion for its members and manipulates the "truth" to its own ends, I am sure you will not be missing them or their FDS.

Has the Watchtower set the date 2034?
by VM44 inthe year 2034 has been mentioned in some posts here as the new date the watchtower is suggesting for armaggedon.
has the watchtower officially stated this?
has it appeared in any articles?

You may be right only Russell set a long date from around 1880 to 1915 but Rutherford and Franz set dates at a much shorter distance (in time).

The JWs are such suckers for end of the system dates that even hinting at them can have a profound effect on their psychology, and date setting is a way to keep them tied to the org, they'll keep playing this mind trick for as long as people are so hopelessly naive. They've been doing it since the 1870's.

Gerrit Loesch GB Speaker at KC convention
by stillajwexelder ingerritt loesch was the gb speaker today at the kc convention - and what a boring old fart he was - i fell asleep and so did my wife

This dupe sounds like the embodiment of the GB spirit, overmoralistic obsessed with the letter of the law, everything has to be in perfect order, but they won't do anything to help people, they just like to boss everyone around.
A very sterile, irritating, impractical and boring approach to the issue of life. -

Would the Governing Body use a "Worldly Consulting Agency"? CIA?
by frankiespeakin in.
pros and cons please.
plenty of room for speculation!!!!

I can't imagine the CIA meddling with religions unless there is a political stake which doesn't exist with the JWs.

Did you ever celebrate Christmas, and do you miss it?
by sonnyboy ini see so many people on this board who are angry over what the witnesses took from them.
i often feel the same way, so i try to do something anti-jw every year, which seems to help.
do you know what i'm going to do this year?
-
greendawn
After leaving the JWs I hesitated for a while due to the mind conditioning but after a few years I thought it would be a good idea to celebrate. The JWs (Rutherford) always made the most negative associations with Christian holidays because they wanted to isolate their members from other faiths. So what? Even if Christmas had pagan origins its spirit was certainly not pagan.
The only thing was not to use it as an excuse to over eat and put on a lot of weight. -

shunned from the congeration
by raisedinthetruth ini was just wondering if anyone could give me the proper procdure on throwing someone out of the hall?
i recently found out that a good friend of mine was basicly kicked out of the hall.
she was raised in the truth but then decided not to go to the meetings anymore.

This is not a religion to be interested in it is in fact a cult as can be clearly seen from the way they treated your friend, they break up families and cause people a lot heartache and have no compassion.
