The WTS had always been some human's property though always fraudulently presented as being God's property. Russell had 990 out of 1000 shares which means total control. And the ease with which he lied even in court under oath shows much about his saintly character, the man was deeply into lying and deceiving.

Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?
by reniaa ini have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.
there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

There is nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas the JWs have made a big deal out of its pagan origins, so what if it has pagan origins given that it does not have a pagan spirit and it's all about Jesus not Saturn, in fact nobody knows or cares about these origins unless the dubs come to inform.
So it is legitimate, it strengthens the Christian faith what's wrong with giving presents or re-enacting the birth of Jesus in a manger or listening to all those beautiful christmas songs? Saturn was ousted and has nothing to do with it, a trophy taken by the christians after defeating the pagans who had earlier tortured and killed hundreds of thousands of them in a futile attempt to destroy Christianity.
As for gambling and sexual free wheeling they are obviously unwise but then think about this, does the fabulously wealthy WTS do anything to help its members apart from giving advise and critisising, do they fulfill their Biblical obligations towards their followers? -

Russell's Deathbed Recant?
by StAnn intoday i was talking to someone who is a history professor.
he said that he heard that, on his deathbed, russell admitted that the whole religion was just something that he made up for profit.
i've never heard anything like this and kind of dismissed it.

Never heard of this but it's not necessary for him to admit as much, it is pretty obvious that he invested a massive amount of money, that equates to about 5 million of today's dollars, in the WTS not out of concern for his fellow man but as a way to make money.
Many did the same and as the founder of scientology said: "if you want to make a billion dollars start a religion". The WTS made a lot more than a billion dollars through donations and exploiting its members as unpaid distributors of its products. This explains why thousands of religions were started in the USA where capitalism did not shy of going into the religious sector. -

Yes, most were cheap a few very generous yet most dubs in that congo were quite well off. Some of the poorer ones were among the generous for as much as they could afford that is.

All I have to say the Revelation book is impossible to decipher correctly unless someone is initiated into the meaning of its numerous symbols which seem to follow from (pre christian) jewish eschatology where the end of the world and the coming of God's kingdom was an important theme.
There is nothing though in it that can be used to predict dates and also many religious leaders barely accept it as a god inspired christian book others see it as christian inspired writings that were soon after heavily interpolated with judaic non inspired writings by judaising or possibly gnostic christians.
JW eschatology relies heavily on Revelation, armageddon, the 144 000, the great crowd, but given their usual bias and incompetence in interpreting the Bible there is little doubt that it's a waste of time to read their opinions on what Revelation tries to tell us. -

JWs come for a visit! I can't believe it.
by dawg ini just wanted to relate that this weekend, a group of jws came by and visited me-they had come to athens to watch the big game that my team didn't show up for.
most of them knew that i had written letters to many family members and friends saying the jws were full of crocodile crap and yet all of them hung out with me.
one was inquisitive in a good way, asking me if i was an 'apostate"... i told him that i was because i've formerly stated that i disagree with the jws about many of their doctrines.

Let's hope the realities about the deceptive nature of the wts are seeping through the defenses put up by the fds, I am sure many doubting dubs are checking them out on the internet where there is an immense amount of information, hundreds of anti JW sites, covering every jw aspect. The fds must be really worried about the internet and the damage it can do to their devious schemes.

I read a study about the WTS-Growth
by JWdaughter inand it said that based on their growth and such, that in 20 years(or by 2020) there would be 28 million jws.
any sign of imminent, widespread persecution that you all have noticed?
i keep hearing about kh's being built and remodeled, and how huge their conventions are.

Their numbers have pretty much stabilised, on a global scale many people come in and many leave as do also many JW children when they grow up. Any growth from now on will be slow and mainly third world.
The public at large realised that the WTS after 120 years of totally pointless and disappointing existence has nothing of value to offer to the world. The failed prophecies about the end, the many needless deaths often of underage children due to the blood policy, the desruction of families, the scandalous lack of charitable work towards the poor and the needy, the rigidly authoritarian self serving leadership, the internet, the ex JW enlightment effort by Ray Franz etc etc. These took their toll. -

''The number of the remant will get smaller year by year'' ......WT quote.
by ThomasCovenant inapologies if this has already been shown, but here's a quote from watchtower 1953 15th october page 636. filling the house with glory study article.
'the number of the spiritual remnant will get smaller year by year as jehovah removes some of them from this earthly quarry of preparation and places them as "living stones" in the heavenly temple.
but oh the throngs of hundreds of thousands of the choicest class of people out of all the nations that now crowd the house of jehovahs worship, and these being added to by the thousands from year to year!

I don't know about the 1950's but the number of the so called anointed has remained about the same since 30 years ago when I first got involved with the dubs, they were mostly people of advanced age at 70 or more. One would expect most of them to be dead by now so something doesn't add up in this issue.
Or as the dubs put it most of them must have failed and had to be replaced like living stones in god's temple that were ultimately rejected. It could take for ever for these last 8000 positions to be filled from dithering dubs but unfortunately only dubs can fill these positions. The entire world must hung on until the temple gets completed. -

Never heard of such places but they must be dreary for the non JWs and hell for ex JWs. It sounds like the Victorian age, members of the opposite sex can't talk to each other if alone even in a public, as opposed to a private, place. Who wants such tight control over his/her life, it's too old fashioned nowadays.
The place is cheap because it is run down, I hope you will get out of there soon. -

Employers don't really care about degrees all it tells them is that the holder is quite intelligent and able to persevere in a long effort. On the other hand without a degree one can't get very far in seeking well paying employment and risk falling into badly paying jobs. That's what many dubs regreted after having given up university due to the cultic influence.
Also today many people just buy a degree or get it from universities with very lax standards where all course work is credited highly however poor and casual it may be.
