my girls attended the district convention today with their mom and step dad.

they hate the meetings but see the convention as a time to socialize and meet boys.

sorry to put such a crappy subject on here but today and like this whole week has been pretty bad.. right when i went to the 5th grade i started getting i was already in the suicidal mood of things and always thought about killing myself or killing a whole bunch of other people.

all during elementary school kids picked on me since i had a habbit of crawling into corners and crying or just sitting and rocking in those corners.

i couldn't talk to anybody, i stuttered and i threw up every time a person talks to me for too long that pushed away alot of people they always talked about me throwing up all the time and everything.

Like just about everyone else here, I too take meds for my depression. Paxil and Wellbutrin. The fact is that more people suffer from depression than from any other disease. And amongst JW's it is even more widely spread than the general population. That may just be a coincidence. However, clinical depression is a real disease. It is a sickness of the brain. Just like any other sickness it needs to be treated. And contrary to JW belief, psychiatrists and psychologists have no interest in and will not attempt to cause you to change your religion or faith or anything else about you. I've seen a number of mental health specialists and not one of them has ever suggested that my problems were caused by the Witnesses. If that is part of what is causing your problem only you can determine that. All that the doctors are interested in is seeing their patient get well. Take advantage of all the help you can get. There is nothing worse than not being able to make yourself feel happy, I know, I've been there many times. Sometimes it just seems so much easier to end it all. But like Danny said it is a permanent fix to a temporary problem. Don't do it man! There are more people than you know who care about you and want you to get well. And one day in the not too distant future you'll be able to help out some other kid who feels the same way you felt today. Heck, maybe someday you'll help me. We depressed people have got to stick around for each other. There are more of us on your side than against you.

It's funny, the WTS recommends humility but it's a quality that those at the top never developed themselves. It's really pathetic.

Kingdom Halls and 9-1-1 fees - taxation?

i was told about this last month, don't have a lot of details and can't get them.

it may be of interest to some; someone recommended i post a thread, so here it is.. the local kh was approached recently by (?

) whoever the authority is, and told that they would not receive 9-1-1 service (ie fire and ambulance) if they did not pay the fees.

It would seem to me in this world of cell phones that in the event that police or fire services were needed someone would just call on their cell phone. Who uses lan lines anymore?

I belonged to the MORON class of "true believers." I believed sincerely and did all the things that a good JDub would do. Pioneered, went to Bethel, no college, no life other than the ministry. Thankfully I was a horrible pioneer. No one that I am aware of became a witness as a result of my preaching to them. That used to make me feel horrible at the time, now it's the only comfort that I have.

if Jesus is black then why they soul-less Kingdom Melodies? Wouldn't they sound a lot funkier?

Actually since Jesus has nothing to do with the Watchtower society what the Kingdom Melodies sound like has nothing to do with Jesus. If anything since the WTS is a product of Satan that would mean that it's Satan who has no rythem, not Jesus.

it is a little known policy outside jws that all you have to do to stop jws from coming to your door is to be put on the "do not call" list.

this is a record that is attached to the back of every territory card (a map section assigned to jw members) and carefully avoided by jws in future visits in your neighborhood.

to make sure that the list is valid and up-to-date, it is procedure for an elder (usually the service overseer) to call on these addresses at least once per year to verify that the resident still does not want visits.

Here's a crazy idea, (I'm sure someone's thought of this before) what if a national do not call list was produced. A website could be set up where anyone and everyone could go and list their address as a "do not call" property. It would be at http://www.jwstayaway.com or http://www.jwstayaway.org

I suppose at first it wouldn't have any legal weight, but if enough people signed on it might catch the attention of some congressman who might see an opportunity for some votes. Next thing we know the congress of the United States would make the list enforceable, just like the telemarketer do not call list. Of course, once it became law then even more people would sign up for the list.

It's just crazy enough that it just might work. Contact your congressman now!!!!!!
