THIS MOVIE WAS HORRIBLE TRIPE. GALADRIEL'S TRANSFORMATION WAS A JOKE, AND THE SCREENPLAY WAS SO BAD IT INCORPORATED CHAPTER TITLES INTO THE CHARACTER'S DIALOUGE. SEAN BEAN WAS A BRIGHT SPOT-YET FOR SOME REASON, A BLOATED SHREK FOUGHT THEM IN BALIN'S TOMB. THE CG WAS RIDICULOUS AT POINTS, ALTHOUGH THE SCENERY WAS NICE. RIVENDELL WAS DESIGNED WELL, BUT LOTHLORIEN LOOKED LIKE A CROSS BETWEEN THE GUNGAN CITY IN STAR WARS, AND THE EWOK VILLIAGE.
ACTING? LET'S NOT EVEN GO THERE.
AS FOR DIRECTION, IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SO BAD IF PETER JACKSON WASN'T SHOVING THE CAMERA UP THE NOSTIRLS OF THE ACTORS EVERY THIRTY SECONDS. THE JOKE WERE HALF-HEARTED AT BEST-THERE WAS EVEN A DWARF TOSSING JOKE.
THE BALROG WAS OK, BUT BOROMIR'S DEATH WAS, AGAIN, OVERPLAYED.
I HAVE READ THE BOOKS MANY TIMES, AND THERE'S NO REASON THEY COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE FAITHFUL, CONSIDERING THE 3HR. 15MIN. LENGTH IT WAS ANYWAY.
FINALLY, THE WORST WAS BILBO'S "LARGE MARGE" EYES FROM PEE-WEE HERMAN'S BIG ADVENTURE, WHEN HE IS TEMPTED BY THE RING AGAIN IN RIVENDELL.

concerned mama is a wise momma....right. Snooping to get info may be ok, but make sure you TELL them, because I used to know when ANYTHING was moved in my room. I have a meticulous memory, and I'm sure a lot of other kids do too. Be careful, and it can be beneficial. But snooping for any "concern" can quickly become privacy abuse.

So, if nothing is wrong with your child, then it's okay to demonstrate your distrust of them again and again? Is that YOUR right? "Duty bound" is a clever way to put it, but elders are also "duty bound" to throw out apostates.
Also, what is a "good reason"?
This is not a "liberal" idea, just one of those Golden Rule things.

While I admit to having no answers to the eternity of those poor, slain children, I cannot, in any way, condone the death of many many millions of 'worldly' children. Children, like adults, are both bad and good. Some children are worse then other, some are better.
Then why would a God of Justice and Love murder children who are good, who have good inclinations and possibly beautiful things to bring to the world?
I am not an unreasonable man, and my father and I had a discussion about something similar to this this morning. But, there is no justification to kill one billion bad people, and five billion good people.
Do you remember the account of Sodom and Gomorrah? Well, God said that he would spare the cities if there was even one man among them who was good. IS this the same God who would murder billions today? I just can't meld the two Gods into one.

I agree that this is horrific, but, you're saying that, ok, they MIGHT die in a horrible way if Jehovah doesn't step in, so let's not feel bad if HE gets rid of them ALL right now.

Stay out of the diaries and talk to the kids, try and try and try.
BTW, privacy is essential to kids being able to TRUST you, and if they don't TRUST you, then they won't LISTEN to you. Any body LISTENING?
It's different if you stumble upon something....but searching for items? Unacceptable.
DIM's sister's looking for an escape because her ass-parents approve of emotionally berrating her and beating her to death with the word "Jehovah".
And the elders? Stay the f___ out of the girl's way.

p.s.-DIM...BE there for her. She's going to need someone to go to, and someone who won't approve of her experimenting with drugs (14 is quite young), but one who won't break her confidence.
