  isn't it odd that all the crucial contests in the bible between good and evil....involved some human "keeping integrity"?

  we know for example what job did... .

  were there any guys like job that flat out failed?

  Why is the month of October Special to JWs

  who else has been told that the month of october is a special month because in the past jehovah has fulfilled many prophecies in that month.. we have been told this twice in the last 2 book studies.. examples are: hand writing on the wall in daniels book happened on 5/6th october 539 bce, .

  jesus was born in october 2 bce,.

  kingdom rule started in october 1914, but the most interesting one is that ww1 started in october of that year.has anyone else been told this?.

  The WTS fiscal year begins in September. Also I believe that pioneers count their time from Sept. thru August.

  I once worked on the insurance placement for all of the WTS property and Liabilities and the inception date was Sept..

  I agree with mrsjones.

  More than 50% of my peers are no longer witlessesand the ones that are are just barely there.

  50 years ago they partied at the Bossert...

  interesting history about the hotel that now houses jw's.... a day to remember for those who do there was no cheering on montague street on tuesday, no confetti, and no revelers in front of borough hall.

  a car horn rang out a little after 3:43 p.m., at precisely the anniversary of one of brooklyn's happiest moments, but it was only because a jeep cherokee with a "baby on board" sign was too slow heading through a green light.

  giddy fans with johnny podres filled the bossert lobby when the dodgers celebrated victory.

  Trust me, there's a lot of partying going on in the rooms and on the roof of the Bossert.

  I used to hang out with a few bethelites there on the weekends.

  They just know how to keep it quiet.

  of the watchtower society organization what have you done with your life?

  interesting, not so interesting, i want it all.

  any story of survival after being associated with the organization is wanted and of interest.. come one come all!.

  I made a clean break from people who didn't respect my ideas, decisions and aspirations. I shunned my witless friends, I shunned my family.

  After 2 years I made it clear to them that If we were going to communicate they would need to love me unconditionally, whether I was a witless or not.

  It took a while but we can at least now all agree to disagree, with no hard feeling.

  I also went back to school for advanced training, got rid of my witless wife, and devoted all of my energy to me and my career.

  It paid off, I am reasonably successful in my career, have remarried to another ex witless and have a more honest relationship with my witless family and friends.

  Everything is not perfect, but I feel alot better than I did when I was one of the "Great Crowd".

  i can't help thinking that if i had never gotten baptized out of loyalty and fear of disappointing my parents (and fear of having my flesh eaten by birds of prey after being destroyed in armageddon), i would not be in this situation.

  i have several family members and former friends who were raised as jws, but never got baptized, and they never have to experience the angst and pain that i have to experience.

  i was baptized and never dedicated my life.

  I have heard of people who had their baptism anulled back in the 80's. This happened to a very good friend of mine becaue of his young age.

  He was re - baptised when he was about 19.

  I don't think they do this anymore.

  Alreadygone, I too have not been publicly DAed or DFed so my parents and many friends still stay in contact with me.

  They are aware of my views and I disagree with them and their beliefs all the time.

  I financially do alot for my parents, so that may have something to do with their communicating so freely with me.

  Thoughts on forgivness...Is there a process?

  though this they actually have learned why it is they need it (forgivness).

  am i backwards on this?

  i work with people and ex husbands who profess to love god, and all the while when they are angry they ask for god's help to forgive people.

  You reminded me of myself about 10 years ago.

  I completely understand.

  I have changed over the years, perhaps its age, or raising a teenager, I don't know, but I forgive primarily for me, not the offended.

  I don't want to devote that amount of energy negatively against any person. I might not put myself in that exact same position again to be hurt, but I honestly look pas t my hurt and forgive.

  I did some terrible things in my life because of my anger and resentment for the Borg. I hope those that loved and love me have forgiven me.

  Its only fair that I forgive others as well.

  JW's and Divorce

  wow, seems like lots of jw's are getting divorced these days.

  since i left the jw's 51/2 years ago i know of at least 5 couples that attended the congregation that i went to, who are now divorced.

  is this getting more common where you are?

  When people get married only because they want to have sex without the guilt, they often realize too late that they share no common interests, goals and even family values.

  New York bethel minute - talking from experience neither me nor my ex wife had any thoughts of apostatsy, but we still ended up divorcing.

  Many of us were genuine in our marriages but we just made a hasty and uninformed choice.
