well, last night was from hell.
about four months ago my wife and i brought in to our house a stray kitten.
looked healthy, vibrant etc.
Our vet told us to NEVER use Hartz anything on our furbabies...What we do is use Sevin dust outside on the lawn (apply a couple times a year) and Advantix on the babies. Our kitty babies are indoor only so we don't fret much. Our new furbaby (Half Giant Schnauzer and half German Shepherd) is on Advantix and Heartguard. We had him bathed, dipped and groomed at the vet's the other day.
I'm SOOOOO sorry to hear about your furbaby...amazing how the little 4 legged creatures can walk in and steal our hearts...((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))

across the nation, people like rainey are offering up their homes as temporary shelters to the storm's refugees.
on the web site craigslist.org, hundreds of people some from as far as oregon and new hampshire are eagerly offering free or extremely cheap room and board for victims, even knowing those strangers may stay for months.. "we've got all this room.
why not host a family, a couple, someone who needs help?
Sunny...I think these folks will need lots of hugs...I'll pass yours on. Needless to say, we're in sort of a frenzy right now trying to get the house ready. We've only lived here 3 months and well...let's just say some of the rooms are still a mess. I spoke w/J from Craigslist a little more today. We found out that various charities etc. will be working with us to help the families. This is great. I'll let you know when we hear something definite! TB

Well, we were contacted by craigslist. We'll probably be hosting a family by Friday. Right now, there's a group trying to charter a couple of busses to go to Baton Rouge and bring about 100 people back. If not, I'm tentatively planning to drive down on Friday with a caravan from our area. In just our zip code alone, there are 7 or 8 families offering their homes. Examples of the horrible conditions down there...in Baton Rouge...1200 people in a hotel. A 17 year old girl who had a baby the day of the storm (last Sunday) discharged from the hospital on Tuesday. They gave her 2 weeks worth of diapers and formula and said "be well and on your way". A 19 year old mom of 3 babies. Most of these folks have no idea that their homes are GONE! It's a long road for them. Pray, think good thoughts, send positive energy, their way. TB

There's about 5 different sites for offering housing. I found them all on MSNBC.com. We've registered with all of them. I read in our paper that they're planning to bring 5-10 thousand refugees up here...We have a big house with an empty bedroom here. Now I just wish like hell I had more vacation time...I only have 1 day left. TB
got a phone call from my daughter who lives in florida a couple of hours ago.
her significant other who i chose to call my son-in-law (because he is the best thing to ever happen to her) got a phone call that his 6 year old daughter was killed in an auto accident near lake placid, florida and his 5 year old son is in very critical condition.
the ex wife is also critical.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My heart goes out to you. TB and family
Congratulations Czar and Czarina and the new princess. May your lives be filled with love, laughter, and joy. TB
i'm really nervous and scared right now.
i just brought my boy kitty to the emergency care clinic with a blocked urinary tract.. i noticed something was wrong last night when i came home and his sister greeted me at the front door (he is always the first one to greet me).
i went into my bathroom and saw that one of them had pooped on the floor - something neither of them had ever done before.
Will keep you and kitty furbaby in my thoughts. We have 2 kitty furbabies. One ran away shortly after we got her, and we found her 10 days later about 10 miles from home...
One more thing...if you can, get your kitty a collar and a tag with her/his name and a contact phone number (I use my cell #) I m positive that's how we managed to get our Jessi-cat back home.
