What weird/strange expierence you've seen/had with a DUB?
by stillAwitness ini remember a sister and i in service and we were lost finding the territory.
instead of making a u-turn into a church parking lot right beside us to turn back around (we were on a one-way street and cars were behind us) she refused and instead went all the way down to the end of the road, into a neighborhood, and onto someone's driveway just to turn around.
of course sis.

When the Book Study was held at my house I had a visit from a professed "annointed" "sister" and her friend, an annointed-in-training. They told me that it was Jehoover's will that I answer a certain question with a certain answer at Book Study that night, they had received a "message" from above. I wondered why Sister Annointed couldn't answer herself since she was in the same Book Study. She was conveniently absent that night but surprise!, so was I! I hid in the bedroom until the meeting was over 'cause I didn't want to get in the middle of the "Who Is Really The Faithful And Discreet Slave" battle that was obviously the source of their Holy Orders!

What the WT spends on missionaries, does it include ALL Bethel ops?
by truthseeker in.
this year, the number of $'s spent on missionaries went up to about $110 million.. now, i know they get about $110 a month, but does it really cost $110 million to look after a few thousand missionaries?.
does the figure include the costs of running bethel or missionary homes?.

Why don't you just dial them up and ask them?
Gather up your list of questions and call! No one here can give you the WT answer but WT can; gather up your energies, do the deed, then report back if you learn anything interesting.
Not a fan of speculation,

family fights on the holidays...
by under74 inanybody have any yesterday or in the past during holiday gatherings?.
i kind of expect for there to be tensions with some people over the holidays because it can be stressful...but i also think that since my siblings and i didn't grow up celebrating anything that it adds an extra tension and can sometimes cause fights.
any experiences?

... in the past during holiday gatherings?
One year my mother turned over the entire dining room table with Thanksgiving dinner on it. My sister and I were terrified.
My mother wasn't a witness.

Is Anyone Else Sad Today?

Today is Thanksgiving. Time for family & friends. Sady, thanks to the Watchtower Org., I have few of either. Lots of early Christmas Sales to look forward to, but no one to buy for. Am I experiencing the "holiday blues" or is there more to it since I've never celebrated anything??? It seems like such a lonely time. Do any of you feel this way?
Today is Thursday. It's only "Thanksgiving" if you buy into the marketing hype.
Buy for yourself. Couldn't you use a good deal? Get what *you* need or, <gasp>, even what you *want*. If you can afford to buy for "them" you can afford to buy for you. Just do it.
It's not lonely unless you think it is. Greet the bus driver. Say hello to someone on the street. Take the time to actually converse with those who respond. Friendliness with no ulterior motivation is a powerful communication tool. It will lift you out of your blues and put a genuine smile on your face.
You have family, they just aren't in sync with you at present. Don't chase after them, give them time and space to learn. Keep hope alive in your heart; that way your loved ones are always with you and you with them. Then you can wait with love, not loss.
Steer clear of things that manipulate your emotions. If you feel yourself giving in to sadness go to sleep! When you wake up you will be in a clearer frame of mind, then use your energy to get something accomplished that will benefit *you* in the long run.
Living it,
Nina

Where were you on the a.m. of 9/11/01?
by rebel8 ini was at work -- a manager in a hospital that is the regional treatment center for one medical specialty...region includes nyc.
someone came & grabbed me hard by the arm and pulled me into a room, where i saw every single mgr.
sitting silently watching tv.

I was on JWD. Really. :)I had just signed on and I saw a post by MadApostate saying Turn on the TV...
I didn't believe the thread title, I didn't believe the post...then other people started posting about it...
I spent the next 13 hours in chat.
Wish I had a transcript of that day's chat.
I remember chat moving so terribly fast that I couldn't read it fast enough and keep up with the conversation. There was a ridiculous amount of people in chat that day. Over 40 or so, I seem to remember.Simon or other board mods, is it possible to get a transcript of chat from that day???
You know, that chat transcript has to be worth *something*! (Maybe people could pay for copies and the money could go to the Quotes Defense Fund?
Nina (who can't figure out how to make the quote box appear when quoting a quote within a quote!)

Let's share the good memories from the org.
by anew ini got this idea from the thread about fun.
you know, today is different, i have some good memories from years ago, cake after bookstudys, kiddie parties, intermissions, mcdonalds for break at field service.
happy elders who would tease me as a little girl and carry me from door to door.

Your good memories are based on your relationships with people, not with the org.
