  questions from a newbie!

  ok i'm too impatient to look through all the old posts..so hear me out.. i'm studying with witnesses, but not yet baptized.

  i was raised around the truth.. i've looked through some of the old posts and i have heard alot about the shunning of former "members".

  i've been told that this is not a scriptural practice.

  I'm studying with witnesses, but not yet baptized. I was raised around the truth.

  I've looked through some of the old posts and I have heard alot about the shunning of former "members". I've been told that this is not a scriptural practice. Now I looked up some of the societies info, 1 cor 5:11&13. Can someone explain how this type of shunning is not supported by these scriptures and what does the bible support by ways of proper discipline by unrepentant wrongdoers. Or is unrepentant wrongdoing something that is based on interpretation? Like...who says it's wrongdoing?

  Did your family ever makeup holidays?

  this may sound funny, but my family would celebrate every year a " gift day".

  it would be in december but never the week of christmas.

  we would get gifts for each other and have a family meal.

  Ahh...remember the trips to the library during b-day parties. I agree though it was a shelter from things that may have been harmful, but my mom (my dad is catholic) never used the truth as a weapon on me. I think that's why i'm so tollerant now.

  mother called!!

  my mother knows i haven't been going to the meetings lately.

  we haven't officially had a 'heart to heart' yet.

  well she calls up today (sunday after about lunchtime) and immediately begins asking 'where were you yesterday, i tried to call you 5 times?

  I wish my mother called.

  It seems to me that the constant calling or nagging IS about caring for your welfare. Being so grounded in their faith they are convinced it's the "truth". They see it as the best way of life for them and you.

  I would give anything to have my mother call me because she wanted me to have a life that she saw as the only way for "salvation". If I agreed or not, it would be wonderful to know she cared.
