From Shawshank Redemption:
Reviewer: You feel you've been rehabilitated?
Red: Oh, yes sir. Absolutely, sir. Yeah, I've learned my lesson. I can honestly say that I'm a changed man. I'm no longer a danger to society. That's the God's honest truth.
BTW I am happier after I passed the angry stage. I can honestly say that I'm a changed man.

Banned From the Bible
by Sweetp0985 ini may be late in seeing this special on the history channel, but did anyone else see this show.
it was about books being banned from the bible that further explains events that may or may not have happened the way it is written in the bible.
this show peaked my curiousity and i went to the library and found the book who wrote the bible?

JC:
Thus under this theory, I can only imagine there us always present "sufficient influence" to make sure the Scriptures we know today as "The Bible" is essentially what was God's intended gift to us, mankind in general but particularly to those "anointed ones" who are custodians of God's light.
So who took care of the Bible before there were anointed Christians?
Satan, of course, would be desperate to create his own works to distract from the scriptures so one would suspect other writings, even of a pseudo-Biblical nature would show up and be promoted in later times by his followers -- so there's that too.
You sound like my Dad. Anytime something could not be explained, he blamed it on Satan instead of looking at the issue logically. ;)
Interesting, but I suppose you have to have "faith" that the essential Bible is serving God's purpose. It's an amazing work and the Dead Sea Scrolls prove it is well preserved. At last the JWs do have a lot of good research on the Bible itself supporting it as a reliable copy of the original works.
The Dead Sea Scrolls only show the preservation of the Old Testament. However, the books of the New Testament are highly suspect to me for the reasons I stated earlier in this thread. I subscribe to the theory about Jeremiah. Many scholars believe that after/during their exile in Jerusalem, Jeremiah "edited" a lot of the stories and oral tradition of the Jews and made most the Old Testament.
There is no hard evidence to back up or refute this theory. Again, you get back to the blind faith argument. -

Another good show was Frontline's From Jesus to Christ (article):
Here is a quote from it:
About the dating of the manuscripts themselves there is little debate. Examination of the datable papyrus used to thicken the leather bindings, and of the Coptic script, place them c. A.D. 350-400. But scholars sharply disagree about the dating of the original texts. Some of them can hardly be later than c. A.D. 120-150, since Irenaeus, the orthodox Bishop of Lyons, writing C. 180, declares that heretics "boast that they possess more gospels than there really are,'' and complains that in his time such writings already have won wide circulation--from Gaul through Rome, Greece, and Asia Minor.
Here is a quote from another site (link):
As for the New Testament, there is one second-century fragment of John's gospel known as the Rylands fragment, but it is very small and contains only a few verses. The earliest substantial manuscript support for the New Testament comes from the Chester Beatty papyri, which date to the third century. These papyri contain most, but not all, of the books of the New Testament. The first complete New Testament manuscript is the Codex Sinaiticus, which dates to the fourth century. Therefore, the oldest papyri containing most of the books of the New Testament were written at least 120 years after the originals were composed, and the oldest complete New Testament manuscript postdates the original autographs by at least 220 years.
Basically we have a complete Gnostic gospel from the third century but more probable is the early second century. We a have semi-complete third century New Testament. I have more confidence in the "apocrypha" not having been changed than our current cannon.
Anyway, if you ever get the chance to watch it, I highly recommend it. -

Are women more beautiful than men?
by Vita Nuova inall things being being equal, is the feminine gender endowed with more trancendent beauty than the masculine?
before sending any stock replies like, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," let me just say that i acknowledge some degree of relative beauty insofar as man and woman bear their own distinctive perfections.
but consider specifically which sex seems to bear more inherent grace to the end that it inspires our sense of harmony and desire to be more perfect ourselves.

Women by far. To sum it up, women are built for beauty and men are built for power. Women have a higher body fat percentage and so have more rounded features/shapes. Men (most of them) have a lower body fat percentage and so have sharper more bulging (biceps, pectorals) and angular (chin) features.

LOCAL JW BUSTED FOR KIDDIE PORN
by new light ini just saw on the local news that a jw i have personally met and whose family i know was arrested for child pornography.
he is only about 30 years old.
this is the second case in 2 months involving an arrest for a child sex crime within the same congregation (the man on the news actually moved away a few years ago).

Yes, but the real question is: were there 2 witnesses that saw him taking the pictures, developing the film, and then putting them in album. Otherwise, we just can't make the charges stick.

Bachlor Recipes?
by Lostreality inim looking for any cheap, easy to make, good food ideas and recipes out there.. my current meal most of the time is either.
cheese casadia: shred some cheese on a tortilla, add some cut up lunch meat (chicken is best) sprinkle hot sauce and microwave for 45 seconds.
sprinkle more hotsauce (if you like, i love it) and place another tortilla on top of the cheese, meat, and hot sauce.

BTW, this is the best way to learn how to cook. This is how I learned to cook. Single, out of the house, had to cook for myself.
Anyway, I like putting sauces on things. A1 is especially good with beef and chicken. Place meat in pan and sautee with sauce.
For extemely cheap food you can make Synchronizadas. They are like Quesadillas except they have ham along with the cheese. Just take a tortilla, place ham and cheese in it, and microwave for about 45 seconds.
Also bean burritos are cheap. Buy a can of refried beans, place inside a tortilla with cheese, and place in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes depeding on size.
Enjoy! -

Are you black or white ? ( just asking)
by vitty inplease dont take offence but ive just realised something maybe its been touched on before,.but when i was reading the thread on bil cosby i read the one off obviously secret.
now as i am a white person i assumed he was white until he stated he was black.
so when i thought about it, i imagine everyone on this site is white, does everyone who is black imagine everyone else is black, and anyone oriental imagine everyone else is oriental.

I started out black. But then I was badly burnt while shooting a Pepsi commercial. I had to get reconstructive surgery and a nose job. Then I contracted some kind of skin disease. Anyway, I am now white with a really weird looking face and nose.
Oh wait, that was Michael Jackson. My mistake. -

How Would You / Did You Handle Disfellowshipping?

Then I withdrew $1,200 and I boogied on down to the gun shop and bought an AK-47 with two 75rd drum mags, four 40rd box mags,a whole lotta ammo.[legal at the time]
I would practice my Rambo routine,in my basement.
Time to watch out for John "Danny" Rambo.
I prefer to be a total hypocrite about things. I ostracize other DF'd people. But when it comes to my family and friends they are OK to associate with despite being DF'd. -

Why cannot some people say the words..."I love you".
by gumby inno.....i'm not gittin all mushy and stuff.......but i want to know why.. during a visit with my sis, we discussed how some have trouble expressing affection with love to the ones closest to them such as spouses, parents, or children.
about a week or so later, i talk to a friend i used to work with and he's telling me of how he and his wife are like strangers.
i asked him if he made her feel loved.

For me trust is paramount to love someone. I have a very dificult time trusting and therefore loving. I especially have a hard time trusting after leaving JWs (too much deceit from them). It is something I will have to work on, but it isn't the end of the world for me.
