  Newsweek versus the Watchtower?

  this from one of 1,367 similar stories that grabbed google's new headlines: "last week at least 16 people in afghanistan were killed in violent clashes sparked by the report.

  ", all thanks to the recent newsweek reporting blunder.

  those of us who love freedom of the press, and i'm included, have to question -- what line was crossed between responsible reporting and that which incites other people toward hate -- hatred enough to kill 16 people?

  Here are my thoughts. After 9-11 there was very little if any protest from Muslims in the Middle East. Someone supposedly does something to a Quran and all hell breaks loose.

  I remember when I decided to leave JW's, before I realized the truth about JW and the Bible. I thought "If Armageddon really comes, I will just commit suicide right then." That is always a nice thought in the back of your head.

  Father SHUNNED his daughter after becoming a JW ?????????????????

  this was 10 yrs ago shes now almost 16 and very confused , her father wont call her or talk to her and hasnt had any contact with her .

  i heard it was a sin for them to do that .

  he remarried and adopted his new wifes child a bastard with no dad and disowed his only child .

  I hate to say it, but I wouldn't want this JW father around my child. He would use any time he has with her to convert her to a JW. All of the JW teachings would just confuse her.

  A disturbing phone call

  i took a call from my best friends son tonight.

  i am his godfather and watched him grow but i am his dads friend (calls me uncle) and thats the first time he ever phoned me.

  he has just been offered a job where i work.

  What are some of the "Get rich quick businesses" the witnesses tried?

  i remember many witness businesses that would pop up.

  usually they would say "i'll just offer it to the friends to get started, then when it takes off i can pioneer".

  it was usually one after the other for the same people.

  There was brother that I knew growing up that had a new scam every week. We would go out in service with him and he would tell us about his latest scam.
  
  BTW, Qwest (the long distance telephone company) was a "get rich quick scheme". My family was heavily into it. Qwest decided to become a real company and dumped all chumps who sold their service early on.

  When you left the JW's, did you keep all your books & magazines?

  i had a collection of older publications almost second to none.

  along with the 30-year publications index, i felt invincible in the research department.. then i got disfellowshipped and divorced, and my ex kept them all.

  " i couldn't tell her "for research" because that would have sounded like i was going to write a book exposing jw's, which would have made things even worse.

  I am moving soon so I threw all of my books (not many) last night. I have the WT CD. That's about all I need/want.

  Personality Wise----Are You THAT Much Different Since Leaving The "Truth"?

  i believe that most people are what they are----whether they were jws or are exes.

  for example, if you were a basically happy go lucky person in the hall, you probably have that same nature now.

  conversely, if you were accused of always complaining and being miserable then, you probably still bitch and moan now.

  I used to hold back in whatever I said and did. I withheld all of my emotions because they were evil. I have learned to let them out instead of keeping them inside.
