  Back in the Basement

  looks like the faithful jws are back in the basement, the oct 15th wt has this image on page 9. but now the lights have been turned out!

  i guess the persecution is really kicking in if the electric company has shut off their electricity, or the jws are really, really paranoid that the government is gonna get them if they have the lights on!.

  only one guy is smart enough to use his tablet (far right), the rest of the jws are old school, using a lantern to read their bibles in the dark!

  If things are that dire they sure as hell won't be using their IPad or at least the older ones sure won't be...

  Why is the Governing Body pushing the very young(5-12 year old) into getting baptized into subservience to the Corporation?

  i think a very simple reason may be because the very young are pretty much the only ones naive enough to take the plunge these days.

  with the internet available to inform people about the deceptive lies printed by the wt corporation it seems that they are getting their member from the less informed population like the elderly and the very young.

  they/gb hate higher education because they loose members who get one and so they are focusing on those that are dumb enough to believe their boogie man bull shit about jehovah choosing their corporation and anybody not a part of it he will destroyed at armageddon.. also we need to consider that they view these young people as a potential free labor source so the sooner you get them hooked into baptism with the threat of disfellowshipping you can get more free labor out of them..

  i think he probably will (it is the us after all) but i hope he doesn't.

  he caused incredible pain and suffering to men, women and children who had never done anything to him.

  many died in unimaginable agony, others are disabled for life.

  I vote no death penalty. Let him grow old in prison and maybe be a voice to other young people who are thinking of making a choice like he did...don't do it! He sounds a bit contrite but he is young. If he really does 'feel' the pain he has caused then let him live with that but maybe be a voice to young people who are caught up in similar dangerous cults and ideologies.

  How strong were you in “The Truth?”

  when you were still asleep in the watchtower organization and had no idea of ttatt.

  what would you have done if you were in a serious accident and all of a sudden you woke up in the emergency hospital room with all the brothers and sisters at your side and your spouse cheering you on to be faithful to jehovah.

  then the doctor comes up to you and tells you that you are about to go into surgery because there is no time to lose and the only way to live is to take a blood transfusion ?

  I went through 4 full term pregnancies, first a C-section and also a miscarriage sandwiched between child 3 and 4. With the C-section I did state the no blood thing but don't remember signing anything. I think I left it to my husband and TBH, I am not sure what he actually would have done. I did lose a lot of blood but after the baby was out I went out. What happened while I slept I don't know and at the time I chose the don't ask, don't tell route. I was just glad to be alive.

  I considered myself a 'good' witness but this was a subject I didn't want to think about the reality of...picture ostrich with head in sand. I think that is true for a lot of witnesses. They just don't like to think about the reality of needing a blood transfusion and really, most never face it. I do remember feeling relieved knowing that for my children the state would most likely take the decision out of my hands with a court order. I have carried the JW prohibition of blood with me and still feel I would only take a transfusion in an emergency but as has been pointed out, due to HIV blood transfusion is generally used only during emergencies. I am working on ridding my mind of the residual JW crap still knocking about in my head.

  Very good strategy and many of the points I think have been tried (I know I used some of them) but the problem for ex-JW'S outside the walls is that the watchtower leadership have pretty effectively barred the gates as far as talking to JW family and friends go. It was because many were using these strategies IMO that the doors of communication were slammed shut and very hard back in 2011. It does work and they bleeding out membership. That's when I think their campaign of hate speech began in ernest. So, that leaves this stategic attack to be waged from within the walls like the Trojan Horse and yes, there are many who are awake to TTAT but still occupying a seat in the kh. I'd say it falls on them to lay siege.

  Terry, nice post! I am a 'vile'inist but mostly a fiddler that has been called upon from time to time to play some jazz. I can usually pull off the melodic parts in a jazzy sort of way but am still a bit lost on the improv part. Jazz takes off and follows it's own rules (or maybe no rules) as far as I can tell. I tend to 'think too much' and totally lose it on the improv. I know that you need to be totally comfortable and into the music and feeling it. It's that 2 / 5 thing! It's something I still hope to be able to achieve before my life is over! I love Bach and I've been told by other musician friends that Bach knew Jazz a few hundred years ahead of it's time! Just listen to Stephan Grappeli and Django Reinhart play Concerto on D minor by Bach duet!

  I had breakfast with 50+ JWs on Sunday

  we pulled into a hotel parking lot saturday around 6pm on the return leg of a wonderful family vacation to new england - an then fate stepped in---a man in a suit got out of a car with the rest of a picture perfect family.

  i immediately noticed all the name tags--- and my blood pressure spiked 50pts- damn!!

  i was booked in a 4 story hotel full of jws-- the only time they took off the name tags was in the swimming pool- they were so proud of themselves.. at 6:30 am the hot water went cold in the wife's shower- what do you expect on the 4th floor when a herd of jws is trying to get ready at the same time?

  What's the Watchtower's latest view on "The End" or "The Second Coming of Jesus Christ"? Most act like its not coming!

  i posted that article from the miami newspaper, others posted the united kingdom's articles on jws and isis.

  what's the official position of the watchtower about the last days, are we in them or are we going to wait another 2,000 years like the jews believe?.

  i remember arguing at work with friends that nostradamus end date of 3000 was wrong, are there other past prophets you know of who predicted the world's end past our time?.

  Fisherman, the 'end' that my grandmother anticipated during the WW II days came and went. She died in 1980. The end that my father anticipated at least by 1980 came and went. He died in 2012. If JWs are still around for a bicentennial all past expectations will be long forgotten....just as you have forgotten past expectations.

  i am writing this letter to request that you have an immediate meeting with jehovah regarding the tight pants, spanx (i think you mean spandex) issues.

  it it clear from your pants rant that jehovah has focused his attention away from the billions of people currently suffering on the planet to address this specific issue.. today i observed a group of witnesses in my neighborhood.

  Bible Chronology, Egyptology and the Great Flood

  fact: bible chronology says the flood occurred between 2348 and 2370 bce, depending on which scholar you listen to.

  fact: the great pyramid of giza was constructed 200 years before, in c. 2560 bce..

  so, if you believe in a literal interpretation of noah's flood, you believe that the egyptians built a great civilization, were destroyed by the flood in 2370 bce, and then somehow, they reappeared immediately after the flood, picked right back up where they left off without skipping a cultural beat.. oh, and isn't it ironic that legitimately studying the great pyramid of giza debunks jw mythology now?
