i'm sorry, but i've just watched one of the austin powers movies for the first time after hearing many people rave about them and imo it's almost as bad as "armageddon" that is on the other side.. i thought it was supposed to be a comedy?!
it is kind-a like the poorest "carry-on" movie ever .
the only saving grace that has stopped me switching over is heather graham ... who is hot !!
Well, I have to weigh in here.
Sure, the Austin Powers Series is low-brow humor, if there ever was. I hated the second one on a first viewing (I walked out and watched something else), but it has grown on me.
BUT, there are bits and pieces that are just so stupid that they are ridiculous. The spoof opening of the 3rd flick had us rolling in the aisles (Tom Cruise as Austin, etc).
I did take my screen name from Dr. Evil -- he is such a boob. He is probably the best part of the series, except for the inside jokes from the Flint/ Bond flicks. Those, plus Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach doing an impromptu duet in the second film.

with 2 marijuana threads already active i thought it would be funny to have another one.
exjdub,
I still can't believe we are behind the times with our Canadien friends who have decriminalized it.
So, it is not a big thing in Canada? Wow, when did that happen? What are the laws? NOT that I personally am planning a trip north of the border or anything -- just curious! I have some, uh, canadian friends, yea, that's it.
here's another marijuana thread.lol.
i believe marijuana was very instrumental in getting me free from mind control.
that's how it happened to me,, i was at randy's site (freeminds) and reading an article on mind control,,,(when i'm stoned i like to read my comprehension seems to improve).
Glad you cleared that up. We would not want to be endorsing non-approved uses of controlled substances!
My grandfather, who has glaucoma, once bitched at the unfairness of not being allowed to "grow your own" on his property. He lived in the mountains, and probably could have gotten away with it. At least his source would have been clean.

Satanus,
I am only an occassional toker, for theraputic purposes.
Glaucoma, right? I have had patients ask me if I could write a prescription for the stuff. My reply is "Not here in Ohio. Sorry!"
the day of deliverance is here, and it is a time for action.
seeing the progress of his glorious kingdom the remnant sing: ?to him that rideth upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old: lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice.?
(vs. 33) {psalm 68:33} jehovah is not now on a stationary throne, but, as the psalmist says, he is pictured in his ?throne car,?
Jehovah is not now on a stationary throne, but, as the Psalmist says, he is pictured in his ?throne car,? moving forward and leading his organization.
Since growth has slowed and reversed here in the US,, maybe this throne car is a Yugo.
has anyone ever had opportunity to study the writings and ideas of christian theologian john hick?
i've been reading one of his books entitled "god has many names" which is a radical and thought-provoking work advocating the idea that all of the world's great religions (christianity, judaism, islam, hinduism, buddhism) are in some way "inspired" by god and lead to him/her/it (hick refers to this entity as the "eternal one").
hick was raised in a non-religious enviornment, was initially inclined towards theosophy but later became a conservative christian in the presbyterian church.
logan,
I checked out the book you mentioned. Hick anad I seem to be very much on the same wavelength. Thanks for the thread, as I had never heard of this guy. I am enjoying his book!

There is a meetup at Mozart's Cafe/Restaurant, the first Saturday of every month (this Saturday for the June get-together). Mozarts is on Indianola Avenue, just south of Morse Rd. (take 71 to Morse Rd exit, go west on Morse about one light, then go south on Indianola less than 1/2 mile.
There is also a group that usually gets together the 3rd Sunday of each month. It was started by Cal Lehman, a former elder in Clintonville Congregation. He has a website --- www.towerwatch.com. (check it out :-)) Those get togethers are very informal, very relaxed, and lots of fun. Usually we all pitch in for pizza. No dogma or secret handshakes required. Just a social time. My wife and I, as well as our two boys always have a good time. We meet in private homes -- either the Lehmans or my home. Details for the June get together have yet to be determined.
Hope you can make it to either or both! Let me know if you have any questions.
