  Jesus Christ - just a myth?

  recently recommended to read a book called 'the pagan christ' asserting that the whole story is just a myth (beggars the imagination) and with parallel stories in most other religions preceding and borrowed by (so-called) christianity.

  can anyone throw some light on this for me please or tell me where i should go next .

  Ciara, You just said a mouthful. READ. READ. READ. VERIFY. VERIFY. VERIFY. I used to (well, I still do at times) get frantic at rushing through ALL that is out there to read. BUT, when my wiser self comes through, I remind myself to enjoy the journey of life and not worry about having ALL of the answers RIGHT NOW. Who knows if we ever get there.... But then, who cares. It is the ride of a lifetime. We can enjoy it, or be tortured by it... My .02 EyeDrEvil

  Try reading The Jesus Mysteries and Jesus and the Lost Goddess -- both are written by Freke and Gandy. I have been reading both. Very intriguing stuff, and highly researched. See how their research meshes with the book you are reading. EyeDrEvil p.s. Welcome to the Board!

  just a question for the board's input.... background information:.

  my wife, raised in a jw home, very popular elder as her father, living through the entire 1975 thing ("honey don't worry about passing 7th grade.

  next year will be the new system..."), but beat up for years by the mind-control and spiritual abuse by the wts.... she has recently officially da'd from the society this spring, had her first birthday party ever (a huge blast of a great time!).

  Just a question for the board's input...

  Background information:

  My wife, raised in a JW home, very popular elder as her father, living through the entire 1975 thing ("Honey don't worry about passing 7th grade. Next year will be the new system..."), but beat up for years by the mind-control and spiritual abuse by the WTS.... She has recently officially DA'd from the Society this spring, had her first birthday party ever (a huge blast of a great time!). Mentally, she has never really bought into what she was "inculcated" as a child, moreso now as a very intelligent woman. She sees the Society for what it is. A mind-control / power organization. She has moved-on.

  Most days are great. We are FREE from the Borg. Life is moving forward in positive ways never before possible.

  BUT... There is the recurring problem of nightmares and random thoughts of panic and fear which will pop up unexpectedly...Fears of death, armageddon, home invasions, etc.

  How long did this last for you? And what did you do to get past this?

  Any strategies?

  Words of advice?

  Thanks for your input...

  hello,forum.my name is dallas and i live in oklahoma.i left the jehovahs witnesses in 1998 after a former member showed me the 1925 false prophecy.i knew circuit overseer william osbeck very well,he left my circuit only to be replaced with brother"if you knock the society i will scream"boatz.he was nothing but a first class coward.he wouldnt even meet with me after i had disassociated myself.i have no regrets about leaving,why didnt my conducters bring up the 1925 failure while i was studying?they failed to mention it.anyway i am glad to be free.god bless you all.-dallas

  randy was kind enough to recently post my story on his website (www.exjws.net/pioneers/rjjw.htm) the response i received was overwhelming, with many invitations to join this discussion forum.

  i won't go into my story, as it is posted and, as long as it is, is really only the tip of the iceberg.

  the more i read and the more i talk to former jw's, the more i'm convinced that i have been duped..something i never thought would happen to me, as cynical as i am.

  it is really me and it was shot at a workmate's birthday party.

  it is one of the nicer ones of me and i saw the fact fitting that it was shot at birthday party.

  My screen shot is me about 2 years ago, when I had more hair. It was actually initially taken for my office's website, but I liked making it look a bit trippy with the surreal colors and magic bubbles. I used the modified picture for my former record company's website.
