  i recently stopped studying and haven't told the "teacher" woman the whole truth--that i don't believe the 'truth' is the truth.

  i have my reasons why, and have been pondering on it for months now.

  what's the best way to say this; or better yet, is there a good way to get my point across without being preached to as to why i should go on and get baptized like i had planned.

  I pretty much stopped going to the meetings cause of the same concern about making kids sit quiet for two hours. After our third child, I gave up. I talked to other people who go to different chuches, and they all have daycares built in. We too spent most of the meetings in the bathroom, with the dubs giveing advise like, "yeah, its tough, but so worth it." I was thinking, no its not. Only then did my other doubts surface, and I found lots of info to help me make this decision.

  I would just fade away from them....best you can...

  i remember one time at an assembly these two "brothers" were actually arguing over thier seats.

  i thought they were going to go to blows.

  isn't it funny how during the regular meeting nobody wants to set in the front rows, but boy at an assembly everyone wants to have that "showy means of display" by being in the front rows to be seen by all?

  Seems like around here, the fight for seats was for the outside rows, and the front rows were only desireable for the LEGROOM. My elder step father would use his "privliged" position to get in early, and reserve us seats that we did not have to trip over anyone to get up, and had plenty of legroom. This was hard for him, because EVERYBODY wanted those seats too. Most desireable was the front rows of the upper decks. That way, you was far enough away, and could still strech out, plus far less stairs to climb.

  Does anyone watch Reno911! or MXC ?

  so i had never had cable or sat until this fall when i bought dish to watch my red sox, rather than to just listen on the porch with my trusty radio.. well now my son and i are hooked on these weird shows, reno 911!

  does anyone else watch them or have i sunk to depths that are unspeakable?

  IMO, The whole idea is to put something on that will make you want to watch, so they can sell commercials. "End of the world" always sounds interesting, thats how the borg generates "veiwership" as well.

  i did what i was asked.

  all these weeks, i did all my mother asked when it came to dealing with the matters at hand for her.

  i'm nothing, if not loyal.. so over the weekend, when mother called for us to please come and deal with my relatives coming to the house to pick up boxes of my grandmother's belongings.

  Nice post. I feel like you was reading my future. I am still a "closet fader", but that could change anytime. Isn't it wierd how the witnesses have the same comebacks? They feel they are so right, that you minds as well be dead if you are not an active witness. My family will do the same to us, and thats why I have to hide in this closet. When I come out, and have to deal with the situation, I hope I have the courage that you have shown!

  my wife and i have not been to a meeting for well over a year.

  we are not disfellowshipped, but would be if we admitted to the elders what we've been up to, mainly smoking.

  Vit,

  I suppose your right, it is time to make up my mind, however, since most of my family and all we really care about are in the troof, how do you actually decide? I would like to lead a normal life, if for my children alone, but I want them to lead a normal life with FAMILY involved. I think that either way its not really cool, holidays with NO FAMILY, or Family with NO HOLIDAYS. This choice is just too difficult.

  I would think, but do not know, that if a catholic born and raised person, chose not to be a catholic when he became an adult, his parents and entire catholic family would not shun him, even if he became a J.W.! I guess I could go on all day about the unfairness of it all, but it comes down to Do I want to lose out on family, or lead my life in the way I want to fully? Who can choose that? Maybe its selfish of us, maybe its selfish of them, maybe both. They have greater numbers.

  Theres a post on here now talking about how you should make friends BEFORE you cut out of the borg. How true, but family is family, much harder to replace them. That is why so many of us are fading, not just quitting. Guess I will go on "fading"....
