does anyone here have any experiences with any unusual kingdom halls, such as architecture, location and furnishings.
in eaton ohio there was a small kingdom hall that sat next to the railroad tracks and everytime the train went by it shook the building.
in salyersville ky there was a small kingdom hall in a storefront buliding, no sound system and they had a kerosene heater at the back of the hall.
When I was driving through British Columbia in the 1977 I saw this KH that was real small and looked just like a box. It was painted green. In 1989 I saw another KH in the same province that had a French 75 mm artillery piece out front. I even took a picture of it. If I find the old photo will post.

rarely will you see an elder smile.
when they want to talk to you, it's always on a serious note.
I don't know what the elders are like today since I resigned my position in 1984 and stopped attending meetings. But during the ten years that I served, elders came in all shapes and sizes. Many were sincere, compassionate, and worked hard to shepherd the congregation in love. Then there were those who were elders because of the prestige. They would work all day at their job at the sewer works, go home and shower, put on suit, go to the meeting, and they were "Brother Elder." Often they prepared their parts during the meeting and ignored their duties. We had liberals, moderates, conservatives, and Watch Tower fascist pigs. We had one of the latter on our body of elders. His brother-in-law was a circuit overseer so he knew all the numbers to call back at the Vatican for advise. Several in our congregation hated his guts because he was always interferring in their life.
Most of the liberal elders that I served with no longer hold that position in the congregation. It would be very difficult for them to serve as elders in today's Watch Tower culture with a clear conscience.

shouldn't it have been the person who gave you your bible study, that should have baptized you?
in matthew 28:19,20 it says "go therefore and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit.. the way i see it, it should have been the one who gave you the biblical knowledge, that should have baptized you.
making disciples is phase one, and baptizing them is phase two.
I didn't know who baptized me as a JW, I was only 8 at the time. That was back in 1955 and we didn't have to answer 80-200 questions then. However, Bishop John Thompson baptized me as an Episcopalian. You would think that in the JWs that the circuit or district overseer would do the honors of dunking all those new JWs.

well kids, it is about that time.
i just saw my first post for this year's memorial.. so i thought i would let you all know my plans and see if anyone else is interested.. last year, just to be hypocritical, i partook of emblems at home.
this year, i plan to be front and center at my local kingdumb hall partaking.. i do plan to polish off all the wine in the glass, and perhaps munch a few crackers.. anybody else up for memorial misadventures?
I don't think it would be disruptive to their Memorial if a few of us showed up and tactfully partook of the crackers and wine. It would be interesting to see it the Watch Tower would report a surge in partakers.

in my congregation there was a brother whose prayers were so long that i decided to time his prayer with my watch.
it lasted about 3-4 minutes.
Speaking of long prayers, does anyone here remember the September 1963 International Convention in Pasadena, California? Nathan Knorr was supposed to talk for 30 minutes giving the Concluding Comments. However, he went on for over 3 hours. Then he finshed with a concluding prayer during which he talked for another 20-25 minutes. That was the longest prayer I had ever heard. Anybody else remember that convention?
