i was 15, quite old compared to some.. a friends child has just got baptised at 13.....to think that she knows what she wants for the rest of her life at that age seems ludicrous.. so, who here got baptised at the youngest age?.

Interesting that the elders want to make a shepherding call after all these years. I had been away from meetings for 4 years when the elders formed a JC to investigate my membership status. So when the elders call on you they will try to reactivate you or try to purge you from the membership rolls. Of course it depends on how strict the congregation is. I hope that all goes well for you.

Wow, nice to see so many here from Northern California. I live in Sonoma County and also remember the long drive up to the Yuba City Assembly Hall, and all the District Conventions at the Cow Palace. I left in 1984 and am still free. Sorry I missed the Bay Area ExJW potluck last month.

Anybody picketing the Cow Palace convention this month?

How Many are Single? How Many are Looking?

i find myself finally becoming accustomed to the fact that i am single again.

i am no longer thinking in couple terms and i now cook to please only me.

it's fun and scary all at the same time.

Divorced and single right now, but keeping my options open and haven't ruled out another marriage.

Of course there are advantages and disadvantages to being single, just as there are in being married. Marriage is a partnership in which there is much give and take for it to be successful. Yet the relationship can be very rewarding and satisfying if the couple treats each other as equals. But again a lot of hard work is involved in making marriage a success and it can't succeed on the strength of just one partner. If the lines of communication are kept open you will never be lonely. True you might not have your favorite dish for supper everynight, but then isn't variety the spice of life.

Racism in the WTS

quick question, has anyone ever experienced racism in the wts?.

I wasn't aware of any racism in any of the congregations that I attended. Blacks, Hispanics, Whites, and Asians were all treated fairly. Our body of elders appointed men not for their skin color, but for their loyalty to the Organization. However, economic status was very important. And if you were dirt poor you rarely got appointed to the body of elders. Also you never got invited over for their social gatherings. I think that this form of discrimination is more prevelant among the JWs than that of skin color.
