Great post, and well summed! Here is a little anecdote for you:
At the 2004 DC I attended, the "Watchers" (men assigned to spy on the group with binoculars and two-way radios) were seated directly behind me. They spent the lunch break talking about their retirement accounts (they were both about 30-40 years old). Nothing "spiritual" was mentioned, no talk of "Armegeddon", not a bit about "trusting in Jehovah" - just hard cash and IRAs.
Do I sense a complete disconnect between JW people and the doctrine? Hell yes. Welcome to the hollow organization.

Note: The series "Understanding Mood Disorders" which appeared in our issue of January 8, 2004, drew an unusually large reader response. The following letters are just a sampling of the many we received.
What is really of note is how many of the responses reflect the attitude as indoctrinated by the "old-school" view of mental illness. To quote excerpts from a few (and respond with JW articles):
My sister suffers from major depression. When I read these articles, I cried because I realized that I have spoken with such ignorance concerning her plight.

When exactly did you wake up to the fact that you were completely ignorant, and how dare you congradulate yourself with this masterbatorial edifiation? Your readers have been slitting their wrists on your advice for years! And now you come about-face and accept their gratitude? Shame on you, two pages of apology is what required to the millions of JWs who suffer under your yoke.

Corvin, I am so happy for this impending victory. Even though this has been an emotional strain on your daughters, I am very pleased with this recommendation. Please post any part of the ruling you can, so many will appreciate it.
I wonder how much of their mother "is left" when you strip away the religion? This might prove to show what an emotional vacuum JWs live in.
Also, did you notice my post on Belguim and the exact same custody rights that country is granting non-JWs vs JWs?

Yet another article on child raising eh? These last two years have been stuffed with the same ol' prescription for the "JW kid disease."
Most JW parents desperate for their children will believe this "posie in the pocket" cure. The problem is that the "cure" is the disease, and JW youth can see through it.

Fleaman: There are so many of "us" inside the organization, and some of "us" are not directly apostate but questioners and thinkers. Most of "us" are content to remain JWs because of various circumstances. That doesn't mean its wrong to stir up the waters once in a while.
Some of "us" were watching closely when the 20th century ended and predicted the fall of the "generation" doctrine.
Others of "us" are watching the anointed count bounce with curiosity.
There are those of "us" who monitor the magazines doctrinal "wind-changes" as a barometer of future adjustments.
So many of "us" have opinions about what the Bible really teaches and are waiting to see if the WTBTS will revamp.
The rest of "us" want to see the Org crumble from the inside.
For you to infer that most JWs are happily head-deep in the sand is true. But don't dismiss "us" either.

In order to counterbalance the sin of Adam, Jesus had to die, not as a perfect child, but as a perfect man. Remember, Adam?s sin was willful, carried out with full knowledge of the seriousness of the act and its consequences. So in order to become "the last Adam" and cover that sin, Jesus had to make a mature, knowing choice to keep his integrity to Jehovah. (1 Corinthians 15:45, 47) Thus Jesus? entire faithful life course?including his sacrificial death?served as "one act of justification."?Romans 5:18, 19.
So the question could be, how long did Jesus "know" he was the Messiah and his previous history. The answer is: About 3 years. Jesus did not become "Jesus" until he downloaded his memories. So the whole issue of whether Jesus was an adult male or not is moot when you consider that the "Messiah files" could have been downloaded to a child as well.
Word of advice: Do not blow your opportunity by raising red flags. But please, make the self-induced morons think "off the page". By raising questions like this you make them think, not recite. This is the first step to being able to reason. Baby steps...
