Jurassic Park .....T-Rex, and other fluffy stuff...
by ScoobySnax inwhen i was a kid, i remember sitting in class, waiting for the playground breaks so i could show the other kids my dinosaur collections.
i had real fossils, plastic t-rex's triceratops and diplodocuses.
this must have been 1977, and i was 7 years old.

I'd just want to go back and watch them for an hour or so
Yeah, and that's about how long you would last.
Ponder this: is the worldwide dragon myth a prehistoric memory of the dinosaurs?

Last night at the book study 5 minutes spent on discussion about apostates
by PaNiCAtTaCk inthings that were said.
apostates want everyone to believe jehovah doesnt care about them and this was referred to as a satanic lie that apostates want you to believe and this satanic lie was even referred to in the prayer.
(i really dont know where they got this or what exactly caused the society to publish this but this is what was said in the "draw close to jehovah" book).

Ah the apostate bait...
I hear the same thing whenever "apostates" come up. Makes me to have to . (Sorry my vocabulary is failing me.)
Pure mind control reinforcement. Sadly it immediately fails when a JW is exposed to something like this site. I know, it happened to me.
By the way JW's want all the answers so they don't have to think for themselves. Don't forget that.

Is the Watchtower STILL 'Playing the Harlot' With the UN?

I wouldn't be surprised if the rank & file were being conditioned to accept the UN and remove the "wild beast" concept.
So many JWs are still waiting for the UN to attack religion, and it ain't goin' that way. WTS knows this and is sliding away from another ridiculous doctrine.

Abandonment of 7,000 year "creative day" concept
by euripides ini have read on some posts here (but have not found a thread) that wts has abandoned the 7,000 year "creative day" concept in favor of the "we haven't a clue" position.
does anyone know when this happened or if this shift has been documented already?.

Gradualism at work:
1982 = Each day was 7000 years
*** g82 11/8 p. 7 Science and the Bible ***
True, the account goes on to say that huge steps in the development of the earth took one day each. But, in the Bible, "day" can mean more than a twenty-four-hour period. It can mean a thousand years or even longer! (Genesis 2:4; Psalm 90:4) The Bible record, together with verifiable history, indicates that the seventh day of that creative week covers a period of 7,000 years. Hence, each of the six preceding "days" would be of the same length.
1988 = Each day was thousands of years long
*** it-1 p. 545 Creation ***
Length of Creative Days. The Bible does not specify the length of each of the creative periods. Yet all six of them have ended, it being said with respect to the sixth day (as in the case of each of the preceding five days): "And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, a sixth day." (Ge 1:31) However, this statement is not made regarding the seventh day, on which God proceeded to rest, indicating that it continued. (Ge 2:1-3) Also, more than 4,000 years after the seventh day, or God?s rest day, commenced, Paul indicated that it was still in progress. At Hebrews 4:1-11 he referred to the earlier words of David (Ps 95:7, 8, 11) and to Genesis 2:2 and urged: "Let us therefore do our utmost to enter into that rest." By the apostle?s time, the seventh day had been continuing for thousands of years and had not yet ended. The Thousand Year Reign of Jesus Christ, who is Scripturally identified as "Lord of the sabbath" (Mt 12:8), is evidently part of the great sabbath, God?s rest day. (Re 20:1-6) This would indicate the passing of thousands of years from the commencement of God?s rest day to its end. The week of days set forth at Genesis 1:3 to 2:3, the last of which is a sabbath, seems to parallel the week into which the Israelites divided their time, observing a sabbath on the seventh day thereof, in keeping with the divine will. (Ex 20:8-11) And, since the seventh day has been continuing for thousands of years, it may reasonably be concluded that each of the six creative periods, or days, was at least thousands of years in length.
2003 = Days lasted Aeons (an indefinitely long period of time)
*** g03 9/22 p. 21 Science Was My Religion ***
For example, the fossil record is shown to match the general sequence of the appearance of living forms described in the book of Genesis. Furthermore, a creative day as understood by the ancients can mean an epoch of extended duration, in much the same way as the terms "period" and "era" are used by science in describing earth history. Thus, the Bible is not at odds with scientific findings. It indicates that the creative days lasted aeons. It does not support the conclusion of creationists who believe that those days were each 24 hours in length.

Thanks Leolaia for the nail-gun work on that coffin.
Ever wonder why there is such a hair trigger response by JWs about the FDS? It's a weak, weak position.
Since the position is now open for hire, can I be the "modern-day Ezekiel?"
