the mccabe nod is used by salesman all the time to get the prospective customer to agree to something that he doesn't care for too much.

no blood cards this year!
by DIM inlast night at meeting they told us to just use our blood cards from last year.
in the past they've always told us how important it was to get it signed every year so that people could see our current views as jw's.....doesn't this new arangement negate everything they've ever said in regards to this?

genealogical records destroyed in AD70?
by Moxy ini was reading about genetics and genealogy and got to wondering about the claims of genealogy that the wt makes.
doesnt it seem odd that when faced with the recorded genealogy of jesus in the gospels which obviously skips several generations, the wt says that the genealogy was so well-known to the jews that a writer could take some liberties with the lists because the reader would be familiar enough with it to fill in certain details?
also, the author of the genealogy could not afford to make the slightest mistake because the readers were so familiar with the genealogy and because anybody could, on a whim, go check the all-important master records kept in the temple.. but, on the other hand, when the romans sacked jerusalem suddenly this information that was so well-known that it barely required telling in detail was suddenly lost for all time.. as with all of these ultra-simplistic explanations, i just went along and hadnt really thought too much about it but now looking back, i knew something funny must be going on.

Interfaith Relationship
by Christina77 ini am currently involved in a relationship for the last year and a half with a man that i found out about 2 months ago is a jehovahs witness (and i am catholic).
the only reason why i found this out, was that i was pushing the issue as to why his parents do not know that i exist.
this really irritated me since he has a very close relationship with his parents.

sorry, screwed up first try...anyway..i personally know of three people who have married "out of the truth". one was active and was "marked", although this was probably twelve years ago. she stayed with it and seems to be happy. another one knocked up his worldly girlfriend..got hitched by justice of the peace, he wasnt to active and i dont know of anything that happened to him. the third one is on her 3rd "worldly husband" she has never been to active,just a meeting once in a while, but her family is in. this sounds somewhat like your boyfriends situation. i personally dont think the elders would pursue someone who is not active, however if he decides to go back strongly (more than just a meeting here and there) and defends your relationship to others in the hall, he could probably be "marked". hope this helps a little.
