Candidly-nuts, who ever heard of a skinny Emu. You are the way you were meant to be and it is just fine. thanks kls but its a lil too close to thanksgiving for me to feel comfortable with you looking at me like that ! REMEMBER... i am not your average big turkey! watchyer back ! lmao
i read the post where some kid let go of a helium balloon at a convention, and everyone was watching it.
when i used to attend the conventions, i loved distractions.
i always heard multiple "pssst" sounds from people opening cans of cott cola.
Distractions..
waiting for some old person to fall down the steep steep stairs cuz they werent seated on the floor level...
watching the brothers carry someone out on a stretcher who got to hot or something..
watching someones kid throw grapes halfway across the stadium.. or looking innocent and averting my eyes if it was MY kid tossing grapes ( oh no i hope the elderly person that inevitably fell didnt slip on a GRAPE! GASP! never thought of that!)
unwrapping some noisy candy so everyone in our row would want a piece and we'd spend a few minutes passing snacks around and getting a sugar rush..
passing naughty notes to the then husband and watching his ears turn red.
Sitting in the nose bleed section where the fans were... and watching the farting contest the teenage boys would have in front of the fans. then laughing at the 15 rows ahead of us waving their watchtowers to fan the smells away. (best performed at small circuit assemblies)

does anyone know what year the wtbts started teaching the mortality of the soul doctrine?
did it preceed the earthly hope doctrine?
i'm curious to know if the wtbts started teaching that your body is your soul, so that they could explain what happens to those with an earthly hope or who look forward to an earthly, fleshly resurrection.. knowing the answer to this question would help me let go of that brainwashing, that we don't have a separate, spirtual soul.
Matthew 10:28 (NWT) And do not become fearful of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be in fear of him that can destroy both soul and body in Ge·hen´na.
Matthew 10:28 (NIV) Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28 (KING JAMES VERSION) And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
BUT we were taught that the body IS the soul.. you dont have a " soul" you ARE a soul.. (thats where i see contradiction)

remember that song?
"fear not those who kill the body, but cannot destroy the soul" ?
i always thought that was contradictory to the teachings.
during a quiet moment at work the other night, i picked up a back issue of o magazine, one of the current quintessentially authoritative journalistic voices of the modern north american woman.
it was the december 2003 issue, and i was intrigued by the title of the article: "the halo effect" which promised to examine the condition of 'being too good' for one's own good.
the preamble contained the phrase "self-sacrificing" and i was immediately zapped by that standard jw buzz-word and the article's suggestion that being "self-sacrificing" is not all it's cracked up to be.. you can read the article here: stop seeking approval.
interesting.. my therapist said i had an unrealistic deep need for approval and along with it anger phobia. a distinct correlation between the two. i wonder if thats common..
i just stumbled on something at the bookstudy last week!
o.k as you all know we are studying the draw close to god book and in chapter 15: "jesus sets justice in the earth" read paragraph 10 on page 152 and tell me if you do not see a correlation: (and i quote)
the religious leaders buried god's law under a mass of man-made rules and regualtions.
You mean like trying to determine whether or not conduct between a young man and women was "loose conduct" or "uncleaness"
Q: "Were your hands above the underware or below?"
hahaha ... answer " brothers i dont wear underwear" hahaha
good topic . one i'll refer back too next time i'm fussed at for something
