my mother has been expressing to us how she reluctantly is beginning to see that the organization indeed has some problems.
she is starting to "feel" that things aren't right.
this past thursday, they gave a "marking" talk for my daughter who hasn't attended a meeting in years.
geez... so your goal is to reach "milestones" not to serve jehovah? did they offer any comfort to her? any practical help ? how did she stomach the visit min?
She made them admit that they ALREADY had decided that they were removing her as a pioneer before they visited her. The CO used the excuse that because she was so sickly, they would think it would be better for her to stop since she had "reached a milestone" in pioneering for 40 years.
this should be number one 2. Plainly Men Suck
i'm sorry .i can hate the wtbs.. i can hate the self righteous, i can hate those who are unkind and beligerent in their faith.. . but i cant hate the rank and file who are just trying to do what they think is right. i cant talk bad about their love for god. any more than i can talk about about anyones love for god.
i hope they can find their way to a better way of loving god but if they choose not to its their right and i wont hate.
all you all have said is true in some..not true in others.. same as the ones i know that are good people.. its impossible to generalize any group of people.
at the circuit overseer's talk last week he made the comment that some "of the friends" are finding it difficult to move ahead with jehovah's organization (tm).
the co said that a few had asked, "is it necessary to have 5 meetings a week, and a magazine every other week?".
"couldn't we do without one meeting a week, and have monthly editions of the watchtower?
years ago a bro gave a talk..saying how pharoh kept the israelites so busy with work they wouldnt have time to notice their savior or have time to consider their plight.. then when moses showed up the king increased their workload for the same reason..
the talk was given to show how satan keeps us busy with work and family obligations so we dont notice what jehovah wants us to do now...
but boy on this side of the fence you look at how the wtbs overloads its members and increases responsibilities...... it looks like they are keeping the members so busy they dont have time to consider if they are doing what god wants or not.
i'll describe my parents.
2 people commited to family, a hard working couple who raised their kids with love, teaching us about the god they knew, creating and maintaining a happy balanced home. there is no malice in them, old school jw's. who are confused about todays jw's and pretty much just attend a few times a year.
i cant say anything bad about them or the way i was raised. we didnt miss holidays because we were too poor to have done anything about them anyway. we studied our watchtower on sat nights for about 30 min. we went out in service on sat mornings. we had fun going fishing, gardening, playing ball.. it was like being raised in the 50s.. there ARE good people still in the org.
the kh's now are more filled with people like are described in the posts above more so than people like my parents. which is sad.
why is it that men are so fascinated by steam locomotion?.
i've always been totally intrigued by steam power.
i've visited lot's of the country's steam lines.
