i had read that before. its really sad. of course the things he was taught in the 30s are not what is being taught today. poor old fella probably doesnt know what to believe. ...regardless he loves jehovah and should have been treated with more love.

Fayetteville Police detectives continue to investigate the shooting death of Derrick Dobbins, whose body was found last Monday morning near the city reservoir. Although preliminary results of the autopsy have not been released, officials said foul play was involved.
"He was shot one time in the back of the head," said Detective Adam Eubanks.
It generally takes up to two weeks for officials to get preliminary results of an autopsy, the investigator said.
Eubanks said the projectile found from the gun was sent to the lab to identify what type of weapon was involved.
As of yet, officials say they don't have a suspect and aren't sure what the motive may be.
"It doesn't look like a robbery ... but we can't rule it out," Eubanks explained.
Funeral services for the 39-year-old victim were held Saturday at Kingdom Hall with Elder William Taylor officiating. Burial was in Pleasantview Cemetery. -

The 'thing' you can't separate the poster from
by Preston ini was thinking today about how all sorts of famous people from history had that one 'thing' that they were remembered by, whether it was hitchcock's silhouette, charlie chaplin's kane, or churchill's victory sign.
what is that one "thing" you remeber posters by (whether visual, or instrinsical) i did a short list.
please add.... i did this on a whim.

DAUGHTER ATTEMPTS SUICIDE TODAY, MOTHER ACCUSES ME OF . . .
by Corvin intoday i drove my daughter nancy to shool after the incident last night to ensure that she was ok. she never showed up to her first class, but took a bunch of pills she pilfered from her mother's bathroom a couple of weeks ago.
she was discovered, and i was called.
i took her to the hospital right away.

corvin please update us when you can about your daughters condition. my heart goes out to her, the teen years are bad enough without a psycho mom added to it.that things got so bad as to attempt suicide is mind boggling.whats even more mind boggling is the mother KNEW this was on your daughters mind. and DID NOTHING. thats horrifying. she is lucky to have you and i know you'll see she gets the care she needs.
as a parent my heart goes out to you as well. your a dad and dads have to be strong but you know you have ears here who care and you can vent. the advice of the ones above sound good to me but your priorty i know is getting your daughter better. hang in there and know we care.

kwint...thats a terrible experience and welcome to the board.
if the elders put even HALF that much effort into caring for the people in their care maybe so many wouldnt leave. i was living in a home owned by my ex after my divorce with no heat in a cold winter. elders came by to make sure i wasnt being immoral , i apologized for the cold..they ignored that situation and just quizzed me on my morals ( i was working and trying to spend as much time with my kids as well as trying to keep the ex from bothering me) funny they werent bothered by the good standing brother ex's control tactics over me. anyway.. a little kindness or practicle help at that time would have gone a long way at that time.. now.. nothing they can do can persuade me they act on Gods behalf.
most here have had similar experiences to some degree.. i see your 25 and hope your young enough to put this behind you and move on with your life and not be too scarred.

favourite games to play as a child during boring meetings
by Surfacing inmy parents were both very strict, and i wasn't allowed any toys at the hall.
my rations included a copy of my book of bible stories, and a pen and note pad.
my parents were strict to the point of not allowing me to draw pictures, i had to "take notes".

when i was a kid, the watchtower was tri folded.. so i'd turn it into a puppet and pretend it was a barbie.i'd keep my eagle eye opened to any nearby old ladies in case they opened their purse and had CANDY.. around 10 i started counting yawns. 17 i'd watch brother horndog to see who he was eyeballing that week. (he always got boners and had to get up and walk around , jacket closed of course. lol)
when my kids were little, i let them have toys till one of them at age 18 mos beaned an elder with it by throwing it across the hall. (he's 15 now and still pitches like a pro) after that they had paper , crayons and GASP i'd let them bring their fave story books with them. which i 'd get frowned at for.

I predict .... (prophecy time)
by RR inwith the number declining and lack of monetary support, that "the watchtower" magazine will become a monthly journal, to save on cost.
perhaps add a few more pages to cover the study articles for the month.
what do you predict?

the awakes purpose is to give kids something to write school papers on and thereby give a witness..
i wonder how many get A's?
i predict the watchtower will continue to read like a legal brief. zzzzzzzzz
