  Were You "Happy To Be Persecuted"?

  jehovah's witnesses teach that when we face persecution, it's a good thing!

  if we're "persecuted for righteousness sake", we should be "happy".

  i've seen some jws that actually seem to enjoy the thought of persecution, as if they were martyrs for the cause.

  i remember a sister with an 'unbeliving" mate who would get beaten every time she came to the hall. everyone was sooooo proud of her.. no one ever called the law or did anything like going and kicking the mans ass .. she never looked very happy.

  my dad spent 4 yrs in prison as a conscientious objector in the 40s/50s , it wasnt a pleasant experience and it haunted him.no joy in that. especially now being an elderly man who was told to come to the meetings and be a seat filler to make their attendance numbers look better (elder told him that) . i hope god appreciates it because the congregation doesnt.

  not to lessen peoples efforts to serve god,i'm sure its wholehearted , my dad doesnt regret his actions. but i regret and resent the treatment he's recieved.

  Being Part of the Community

  last night, my hubby & i were discussing the upcoming meet-up being held here.

  my husband's never been a jw (or involved w/religion for that matter).

  and to be perfectly honest, although he's put up w/my online activities, and occasional f2f gatherings, he's never been 100% completely comfortable with it.

  seeing people in different stages of exiting helps everyone who reads here i think.

  myself personally never go out of the house because my man is housebound due to disability so i am happy to have online communities to go to! i had no social life as a jw so i dont miss that. but i did have some order in my life.. going to meetings etc. i think i miss a reason to shower , doing it everyday just to prevent STANK is boring!

  i have a tainted accent.. lived in ky , ga, tn, fl. so i have a hodgepodge accent.

  i would LOVE to have the smooth as butter accent the older ladies have in georgia.

  i dont worry about my accent.. my overwhelming intelligence and wit distracts you from the dangs and shootfires...

  Jehovah Help Me Find My Keys!!! In Jesus Name Amen

  i remember as a jw asking jehovah many time to find my keys so i wouldn't be late for field service or work.

  sometimes i had to ask 2 or 3 time but it never failed.

  jehovah always made sure i found those keys.

  once before a meeting couldnt find keys.. gave up and decided to stay home.. 2 yr old kid of mine toddles up riding her lil buggy thing.. jumps up.. opens the seat and hands me the keys.. " i didnt wanna go to the keemhall tonight mommy"

  good enough reason to stay home lol.. she got over it..she's now a pioneer.

  Just got home from the dentist :(

  no insurance and two small kids seemed like a really good excuse.

  so i finally wenttoday.

  gawsh i've had 4 kids ... and one abscessed tooth... i'd take the labor any day and i had bad bad labors with 2 that were turned wrong. at least i knew the labor would end..the toothache was AWFUL morphine didnt even cut the pain. i was climbing the walls and wanted to take a claw hammer to the tooth and dig it out! it was awful

  i have bad teeth, 4 kids, 40 yrs old, poverty.. i 'm the epitome of a hillbilly.

  the only people i hope to influence are my younger kids.. oldest is a married pioneer and very zealous so i'm not really able to influence her..but my younger kids i want to have a better life. i tend to talk more to them about being balanced and not feeling overwhelmed by their " kh responsibilities" (the fact that a 8 yr old worries about his "time" makes me SICK)

  1. i first had "nagging doubts" about the borg some three years ago (after 6 years of being a faithful witness).

  2. i stopped avoiding "apostate" internet sites some 1.5 years ago, which really helped me confirm my doubts.

  What Are "Sins" That Are Unique To A Jehovah's Witness???

  if you are not feeling well, have a headache, a backache, whatever but you would go to work but didn't go to a meeting or in "field service"---then you "sinned" against jehovah.....any others?

  heck at our hall there was an elder assigned to walk around during the wt study to check who didnt have an underlined watchtower. dunno if that was unique to our hall or if its system wide.
