does anyone know of Kin and MaryJo Shinn? He was a DO in the Seattle area for awhile. He decided to stalk me and suggested that "I should be patient" and someday we could be together? Really? I was only 19 at the time and was trying to leave the JW's and this guy came to my apartment to discuss this with me! Yikes! I always wondered how many mistresses he had in all of his districts. HA! Encouragement? Not really!

Are you sure leaving the JW religion has made your life better?. Lurkers think twice
by mankkeli inon this forum, i have carefully read most of the experiences of those who left the jw religion, i have even read experiences that have dated back to 2001, i have read the different circumstances surrounding their exits and what ensued upon leaving.
for the majority, i observed they are better remainning in the religion than leaving.
what benefit is there to strain family relationship because you want to be free?, please tell me, of what value is that freedom?,.

Are you serious? so better to be a hypocrite and stay in the JW's and pretend to believe what Brooklyn decides on a daily basis? Great!

How about the belief that demons are after you all the time?
And that you shouldnt' buy things at garage sales because there might be "demons" attached to whatever object.
I could never figure that one out!!

Has anyone else noticed all the advertizing the Mormons are starting to do.
by life is to short ini live in the pacific northwest and in the last week i have started to see bill boards popping up all over the city with pictures of people who are doctors, stay at home mom's, lawyers, plumbers, etc.
they all look very normal just living life and below their picture it says i am a mormon.. i have also started in just the last few days to see commercials on tv showing a soccer mom running her kids to games and she stops to look at the camera and says i am a mormon, or they showed a doctor who stops and says i am a mormon.. i think this campaign with the mormons has to do with mitt romney.. has anyone else noticed this?
i wonder what the gb would do to make the jw's look normal, as our kids do not do school sports, we do not go to college so we do not have many doctors or lawyers, or even plumbers and electricians, etc for that matter.

I live in the NW as well and have noticed these ads recently. And yes I was wondering if the JW's would ever do such an advertising campaign on TV! HA HA! at least Mormons seem more normal than witnesses and certainly don't have rules about "being no part of the world."
But I'm sure the JW's wouldn't spend their precious money on that! They need to keep it for the GB!

How long would this be allowed?
by Lynnie ini have a cousin that is born-in but never went for the jw's throughout her entire childhood and until this day, she's 30 now.
her dad is an uber elder and her 2 sisters are very devoted as well.
now she's talking about "going back" to the kh etc because she thinks now this is the place she belongs.. my question is: she's living with someone "in sin"; has a fb page; goes to rock/rap music concerts all the time etc.

My question is: She's living with someone "in sin"; has a FB page; goes to rock/rap music concerts all the time etc. How long would she be allowed to hang out at the KH with folks before they told her she needed to "progress"? Would she be allowed to attend meetings indefinitely without doing any field service? Wouldn't she be viewed as a "fornicator" since she's living in sin? She's not DF'd, never baptised. Not sure why now she wants to go back (it maybe just a passing thought since her grandma died earlier this year) but I'm just wondering how much she's going to have to change her lifestyle or does she at all?
Will the other elders besides her elder dad put their foot down and say she needs to be married etc or just let her go along on her own terms forever?
I can't imagine her going out in service ever again and isn't that pretty much required if you are to be considered a member of the congregation?

Non JW's and DF's JWS
by Lynnie inmy uber witness cousin has 3 daughters, 2 that are very much jw's and one that isn't (she never went for it at all).
how does it work that he can see his way clear to have an almost normal relationship with her even though she's living "in sin" with a man and has several times in the past and she also has dabbled in drugs along the way.
i thought you weren't supposed to hang out with fornicators???

Does anyone remember years and years ago that they did indeed "disfellowship" unbaptised publishers? I realize the big difference between me and my cousin is that I'm baptized and she is not but she has clearly told her father that she isn't interested at all but he still has a relationship with her nontheless. I just hate the fact that she can have a normal relationship with my family and I cannot.

But the daughter "knows she is sinning" since she was born into the JW's and just never went for it. But of course my cousin isn't willing to cut her off completely and when there are family gatherings when her sister comes home from Bethel with her husband she's always invited. I guess you can pick and choose who you want to cut off and who you don't.

I thought you weren't supposed to hang out with fornicators??? Many years ago you would have been disassociated which was the term for unbaptised people in the Kingdom Hall. Me, I was DF'd 35 years ago; I hadn't attended a meeting in 2 years but the elders tracked me down looking for any evidence they could find to DF me and they did.
I just find it so very interesting that my elder witness cousin can justify this relationship with his daughter but of course won't have anything to do with me in 35 years!
Shouldn't he get reproved or something for hanging out with his worldly daughter? I love how the preferential treatment abounds in this whacked out religion.

Continuing story of relative's funeral
by Lynnie ina couple of weeks ago i posted about how my uber witness cousin told me i wouldn't be welcome at my aunt's family gathering after the memorial service at the kingdom hall.
(i've been df'd for 35 year now).
he did invite me to the kingdom hall for the service but it was clear i wasn't welcome at the family gathering afterwards since i asked him flat out.

I think what bothered me the most was that my cousin wouldn't acknowledge that he did indeed tell me I wasn't invited; that I drew my own conclusion about attending the gathering!!! Yeah with your help! but in his mind of course he didn't do anything at all just agree with me???
Oh and the part about being welcomed at the KH?? Really? I don't think they have changed their policy on DF'd people.
and yes I'll concentrate more on my non JW side of the family and eventually there will be another gathering and I'll attend and see how Mr Uber Edler acts then with his non-witness family members and me. Should be entertaining to say the least!!
