BOE 2014-07-11 Use of ministerial servants where the number of elders is limited
by WatchTower87 into all bodies of elders.
the congregation secretary should arrange for this letter to be retained in the congregation permanent file of policy letters.
he may also wish to update the congregation copy of the index to lettersfor bodies of elders (s-22) at this time as well.

RC's and IC's: Are buses the new profit center?
by zed is dead inlocally there was a very strong push for everybody to ride the bus to the international convention.
they discouraged driving to the stadium and were not as crazy about booking rooms through the society.
my guess is that they are getting a cut of the bus fares that they organize.

Yes I thought that was rather curious myself about the Intl Convention in Seattle. My mom who lives in Lynnwood 15 miles
away took the rented buses all three days and was told that the parking was a 'mess' etc by the elders so that why the buses were
"required." Well they have a giant parking lot to accommodate the college football games so that could have been used.
Funny they didn't encourage people to ride buses to the Tacoma Dome when that parking scam went down and they were charging people
for parking when it wasn't required.

Another PR / marketing website for a JW international convention - this time Seattle
by sir82 inhere is the link: http://seattledelegates.org/.
i would guess this is the wave of the future.
a secondary channel of business revenue for the wts - compensation for recommending restaurants, tours, etc.

Yes the traffic around the U-District and Lake Union should be just nuts on Friday! The traffice starts way before the
fireworks program! Perfect! Wonder how many delegates will wander over to Gasworks Park and watch the fireworks. Oh and the evening programs
is being held at Bell Harbor Conference Center or the Renassiance Hotel are not going to be cheap either.
The Renassiance is s 4 star hotel. I'm sure they could have found something cheaper and closer to Husky Stadium like
the Silver Cloud but I guess that wasn't fancy enough! And guess who pays for all this? HA!

Are all conventions doing this or is it just Seattle? Seattle seems to have a rich amount of JW's to support this.
I think one of my cousins is putting together some song mix CD for the delegates which I thought was rather
strange since she's using worlding songs and not JW songs.
Is there only one convention held at Husky Stadium?

is about "God's view on smoking." Okay it goes on and on about how we need to keep our body "clean" and
undefiled blah blah blah. Why doesn't this apply to alcohol too? Alcohol is harmful to the body or can be.
There's this line in the article that says "Jehovah wants us to be free from practices that harm our body but also from
those that corrupt our spirit, that is, our dominant mental inclination." The article goes blabs on but that sentence
could be applied to the consumpton of alcohol too! Wonder how many would leave if they decided to
ban alcohol? HA! I know there is no logic with the JW's but what the article says can apply to booze too. I guess they don't
see that!

Disfellowshipping and reinstatement
by Lynnie inso i was visiting my older cousin who has been out of the jw's for many years but is still favorable.
to the whole nonsense and seems to be on the fence still after 35 years and she asked me "have you ever.
thought about going back?
-
Lynnie
Yes I think that's the thing that bothers me the most, my cousin doesn't want to say anything
negative (about anything!) but it's obvious she doesn't want to go back all that much either. I know
she and I both hated going door to door and that is a big requirement of all JW's. Funny how
people can have blinders on for years!

Yes I'm DF'd Apognophos. I was most amazed by my cousin's lack of knowledge that there is still that policy in place that
you need to sit in the back of the hall forever until the elder's decide you are worthy enough. She was trying to tell me
"things have changed so much" but couldn't really say what. Perhaps more lenient or some such? I'll have to follow
up with her to see what she meant by that. oh and I do find it interesting that she's not exactly running back herself!

You are correct, LostGeneration. She met a nonbeliever and married him 3 months after
she met him to avoid any meeting with the elders (PO at that time) regarding premarital
sex I"m sure. But no one bugged her or stalked her like they did me after she got married.
I've heard of the inactive ones getting "reactivated" but wasn't really sure what that meant.
In the meantime I need to let my naive cousin know that it's just not as simple as she thinks for
me to join back up like she thinks it is. Yes she needs the TTATT badly but I don't think she would be
receptive.

So I was visiting my older cousin who has been out of the JW's for many years but is still favorable
to the whole nonsense and seems to be on the fence still after 35 years and she asked me "have you ever
thought about going back?" and I told her that I was far too damaged from the treatment over the past
35 years to consider it. And I said "well if I didn't have to grovel at the elders feet for a year or more before I
was left back in that would be a consideration too. First she said that "oh you shouldn't focus on the human aspect"
Really? Then she said "oh I don't think they do that anymore (meaning having to grovel at the elder's feet)" and I'm
absolutely certain they still do no matter how long you have been out. I asked her if she was going back and of course
didn't get a definitive answer! She was the one that told me oh so many years ago that you could leave the JW's
at anytime and she did with absolutely no consequences. When I did a year after her I was stalked by elders for
2 years! Has anyone else heard of this? That you can just start right back up where you left off?
